How, what, who?

3 -2 for Izzy if I'm being generous to Rob 4-1 Izzy if I'm being strict

Getting a takedown with no control and no damage and no threat should not win you the fight he was outgunned out struck and outpointed on the feet end of story

This ain't wrestling...This be MMA

Baloney. Rob controlled everything past the first, took him down at will and lit him up on the counter. I’ve got no dog in this fight, but The Knuckles won that 48-47 easily. Don’t rely on biased and drunk Mike too much, or any commentary team reliant upon a UFC salary. This is right up there with Pig Pigg + GSP in terms of a hose job.
Close fight. I believe to beat a champ, you gotta take it from him. I dont like Izzy at all, but he won, barely. Not even close to the Hendricks robbery

This is the correct answer, which Is why I just call it a draw.
People lose sight of the enjoyment factor.

That is why we watch fights, right?

In the past I have been guilty of over analyzing fights, getting upset, etc...
There is no real upside to that.

Now I watch the fights to enjoy the display of martial arts skill, the competition, the violence, heart, willingness to battle through adversity.

I understand that rounds can be close enough that one judge can form a different opinion of who won, just as fans often come to different conclusions as to who won a particular round.

I find I can enjoy the fights and the entire experience of following MMA (and boxing) more by letting go of things I have no control over.

Also... I'm just too old and have too much real life shit to worry about to have the energy to get upset about an MMA scorecard.

If a fight is close enough to be within the wide range where an MMA judge could possibly fuck it up, then I accept that that round or fight could go either way, and accept whatever result that occurs.

If he goes out and fucks up Marvin and Strickland he deserves it.
I hate this shit of "well he lost twice so he is ineligible now"
Wrestlers wrestle as many times as they need to. Like look how many times DC lost to cael Sanderson.
If you have a clear number 2 who has defended his claim to the number 2 spot and earned the shot he deserves it. Just like max deserves it against volk and to me his rematch wasn't as close as Rob's was with Izzy.
Unfortunately, this isn't about sport as much as it is entertainment and frankly I have no idea how a third match does. Rob is a fan favorite so maybe that will help, but I highly doubt he gets another shot, which is a shame because with different judges he could have the belt now.
Dana didn't sound too keen on it when the media asked him about a third fight, even when they mentioned Rob getting a few more wins to get there. That's a bit worrying for his chances fighting Izzy again.

I think a few things will be in Rob's favor here to help campaign for a third fight, if he does the right things.
- Izzy and Rob are two of biggest stars in the Oceania region, when the UFC will be able to go back to Australia those two fighting as a main event would bring a lot eyes to the fight.
- Like you said, Rob is beloved by fans. I was actually surprised how many more cheers he got compared to Izzy after the fight and they'll support the idea of Rob getting a third fight if they think he deserves it
- The most important thing is ACTIVITY. This is what helped people remember how good Rob was before the second Izzy fight, he was extremely active. He fought Till, Cannonier and Gastelum in 9 months, that's very impressive and people gave it a lot of attention.
He didn't take much damage in this fight and he should try to fight two more times this calendar year. He won't have much trouble finding good fights either since he's the number 1 contender and fighting Robert Whittaker is a big deal. He should also try to get his next fight on whichever card Izzy/Cannonier headlines and fight someone like Strickland, this will bring more eyes to his fight.
- Lastly, he needs to perform well. I have no doubt Whittaker will beat Strickland handily, but he needs to dominate to impress the masses. I could see someone like Vettori giving some issues, but I still see Rob beating him.
He also can't lose though, all it takes is one bad night at the office and everything crumbles down. This can happen to anyone.

Watching live i gave Izzy a slight advantage. But all the popups izzy had from TD attempts played a factor on me thinking Robs Gameplan was not working. If you look at modern scoring criteria though this is still a judgement call. Damage was virtually even.. Possible slight edge to Izzys kicks. Td attempts that are stuffed cancel out. But some Tds were on the edge of not being considered defended to the point of cancelling the attempt. 3-2 Rob is not crazy

Lol. You don't win belts like that against the man who dropped you and finished you.. you finish them with no questions left.. knuckles didn't do that.

Scores are based on the present and actions alone, not on anything in the past or efforts as you believe to have perceived them.

He was much more successful this time around and was very competitive throughout, which does not depend on his having been knocked out before. So even though you are bringing up something that doesn't matter, you're still wrong about it
But he didn't win.

Scored 2,4,5 for Robert
Was flummoxed when the commentary team saw round 2 for Izzy
Rob got a takedown and was ahead in headstrikes with total strikes edged by Izzy by a mere 3 strikes

I scored it 3-2 Izzy, but I might need a rewatch. I still don't think it'll change my opinion, I just see a lot of people scoring it for Rob and maybe a rewatch without commentary will show me something different.
I'm a massive Whittaker fan too so it's hard to see him lose to Izzy twice like this.

IMO I think he could've fought better than he showed, if he wants a third fight with Izzy it's gonna be pretty fucking difficult to get it now.
Best thing to do is be active and try to get at least 2 fights this year against top contenders like Strickland and Vettori.
Not deriding you, but that's like the least threatening contenders list in terms of actual violence and CTE :D

Tbh I see Whittaker messing up Strickland pretty bad, he either gets a clean decision or TKO 2nd/3rd round. It's a decent feather in his cap if Whittaker gets by him.
Him vs Vettori will be interesting IMO, it should be a main event fight and I could see it being pretty fun.

Bitter Rob fans clinging to their narrative in the same manner Rob attempted to cling to those highly useless takedowns.

He didn't win. Get over it.

So, first of I'll just admit that I am straight up biased for Rob. Wanted him to win, he's probably my favourite current fighter.
That being said, here's how I scored it watching live and how confident I was with each round score:

Round 1: Clearly 10-9 Adesanya
Round 2: Toss-Up, but 10-9 Whittaker for me
Round 3: Toss-Up, but 10-9 Whittaker for me
Round 4: Clearly 10-9 Whittaker
Round 5: Clearly 10-9 Whittaker

So, I leaned 4-1 Whittaker, but I'm also biased. I completely recognize that rounds 2 & 3 were basically even and you could score them either way.

I have no issues with 48-47 Adesanya.

I would love for Strickland to get headkick KO-d by Rob
Vettori would most probably get sprawl and brawled

Only 1 round was clearly for Adesanya. The other 4 rds are definitely up for debate.

Izzy only clearly won rd 1. The other 4 rds are definitely debatable. It's to close for me to claim a winner, but Izzy only clearly won the opening rd.

I had it 2-2 and didn’t really know who won the 2nd.
Izzy is good but he plays his little dance and doesn’t really go after it unless you come to him. Rob fought really smart but still didn’t separate himself, good close fight

To be honest, I had Izzy 1 & 3, and Rob 4 & 5. Im still not sure if anyone won round 2, so I'm cool with whoever winning.
