Im from sweden, and as you all now, in Europe we use the metric system for weight and length measurements.

So, how many pound is a "plate"??? is it 40?45? Im talking about the usual metalplate seen in all kinds of training videos and such. And people in this forum keep talking about squatting so and so many plates.

Oh, bye the way, the most common plate in sweden are 15 and 20 kilos. Usually with a layer of rubber around it also. We have different colours for different weights 15 = yellow, 20 = blue, 25 = red, 50 = green.

What do you have over there?

Hahaha. Normally I'd be offended by anti-American talk (you can shit talk our "leader" all ya want though) but that was just hilarious, plus, even as a US citizen, I agree not using metric is stupid. Especially since our engineers/scientists etc. have to learn the metric system to share data more effectively, and more importantly, gather it more precisely. I am kinda glad we don't use kilo's though, I don't like how those make my lifts sound so little.

You're a Swede too? My grandfather was born in Sweden and came over on the boat in the late 20's. Morfar's a stud.

My gym has a mix of 45lb oly bars, kilo plates (10/15/20/25kg), and english small metal plates. It makes it hard for me to figure out how much I lifting.

Coming from Sweden do they generally use Eleiko bars/weights? I think the milestones are 140kg (3 plate), 180kg (4 plate) and 220kg (guess how many plates). If the plates were 25's then it'd be a damn sight harder.

Yep, most gyms are filled with eleiko plates. And for the plates, most people like to load up the bar with several 15 kg weights so it looks more. Especially the metrosexuals.

And for the bashing, I like to bash sweden to most. Lets just say I dont like socialism.(before this gets into a war room-thread.

Right now I feel the urge to tell a little story, (like anyone would care, and everybody must have heard this one already) But anyway this supposed to have happened in the 80
