How many lower weight UFC champs can the worst UFC Heavyweight beat?

This is Dodson sparring a terrible MW. Dodson is not a champion but he fought for the title before.

tall guy was super tired, and it looked like he was treating it like sparring with a woman - throwing at about 40% and mostly just the occasional jab

Ummmm, if they gain weight to become an actual HW.. Then logically they are no longer in a lower weight class now are they?? Did I really need to point that out?
If they were fighting a HW, they wouldn't diet down and cut weight. And nothing about this thread suggested that a MW would have to cut down to MW before fighting a HW. Without having to diet and cut, many of the UFC MWs are already in the 215-220 range.

Did I really need to point that out?

Usman could probably walk in at 200lbs and in fight shape. I feel like any HW with suspect grappling would be in trouble after the first 2 rounds if they couldn't finish him or at least hurt him. It's not absurd to think an all time great at 200lbs could beat a 240lb gate keeper.

The smallest weight class that's actually had success against HWs have been MWs. MWs in MMA are 200+ pounds so they carry enough weight to fight against bigger guys to a certain extent.

He's 5'6... he won't do anything...
He used to be a tiny thick rugby hulk person. He has all the tools needed plus incredible discipline in fighting. Bulked up, he'd be a serious threat.

The HWs listed are all trash. Only Rothwell would beat the shit out of him since he was an elite HW.

Watch the whole clip. And imagine him at 210 pounds.

people are forgetting about DC

if he had an ounce of discipline when it came to food he could have also been MW champ.

In college he was wrestling at 184

For instance, Hardy is listed as 6'5 + 280 lbs on Wiki, so probably at 265 lbs for the official weigh-in.

Max weight i've seen for Volk is 214 lbs... also i would want to see how he attains such a massive weight for his height without being fat under USADA...

Melvin Manhoef KO’ing Mark Hunt comes to mind..

Also, right after Alex Pereira became double champ in Glory Kickboxing (champion of the MW and LHW divisions) he expressed interest in challenging Rico Verhoeven for the Glory Heavyweight Championship to become triple champ, but before that fight could take place Pereira got signed by UFC. I wonder how that Heavyweight Championship superfight would’ve turned out :)

It’s not my fucking thread buddy. If someone says a “lower”’weight class that literally means to me, Izzy coming in at walk around weight against a true LHW like Jan. There is going to be a clear and obvious difference in size.

I don’t pick anybody below walking around LHW to beat any HW on the roster. Is that clear enough for you?
The lower-level UFC HWs include guys like Jake Collier, Chase Sherman, Alan Baudot, Jared Vanderaa, and Harry Hunsucker. Then there's the recently retired HW Gian Villante.

I think there are multiple MWs on the UFC roster who could beat some or all of these guys at their walk-around weights. They might not be favored, but they'd have a chance at winning.

Granted some UFC MWs walk around >205. I would even say there are some big WWs who would have an outside chance at beating a UFC HW.

this would be the more entertaining shit ever.

the current champs are forced to make their respective championship weight

and they all get matched up against various heavyweights (maybe the lighter guys get matched up against lower ranked heavyweights, whereas glover would have to fight someone highest)

Ok, pal.. whatever you say.

But why duck the highest paycheque in the sport (Several UFC HW got paid close to 7 figures for headlining a FN card). If you can cut massive amounts of weight to fight well below your own true weight for less money??

It becomes more obvious everyday that a lot of you can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

Go away.

Professional sport is about maximizing your competitive advantages, I said they would have a chance against certain HWs, but I never said fighting at HW gave smaller guys the best chance at victory or was the best career path for them.

You don't get a 7-figure paycheck just by beating the likes of Vanderaa and Hunsucker. Fighting at HW isn't some guaranteed meal ticket unless you can hang with the elite of the division.

You're not as smart as you think you are.

I literally didn’t read past the first sentence. I just explained how HW are traditionally the highest paid in the sport, and you talk about “maximizing”

Maximizing competitive advantage you idiot. You have to do that before you can maximize your paychecks.

HWs tend to get paid the most but they don't get paid the big bucks until they reach the elite levels. Just look at the payouts from UFC FN Daukaus vs. Lewis: https://thesportsdaily.com/2021/12/...daukaus-fighter-salaries-incentive-pay-fox11/

Lewis $341,000
Daukaus $64,500
Don'Tale Mayes $44,500
Justin Tafa $38,500
Harry Hunsucker $20,000
Josh Parisian $16,500

There were 12 non-HWs on the card who didn't headline, didn't have to get punched in the face by Derrick Lewis, and still earned more than Chris Daukaus. Nobody is moving up to HW to get paid Josh Parisian money.

Stopped reading the second you insulted me. I’m sorry that you can’t express yourself or make your point without turning into a petulant teenager.

Good luck with all that. I’m sure that behaviour will lead to a perfectly happy life.

100% some of the lower guys up to LW and even FW can beat a few of these bum ass HWs like Hardy. These HW would only have strength and size on their side, and skill discrepancy would be immense.

He isn't that good.

RIP UFC, lol!!

If we had some leg lockers amongst our champions I'd put some of the smaller weights up for kicks and grins. But probably someone like Huggy Bear loses to Izzy, but maybe not Usman. I don't know. It's crazy to think about, so fun thread! Thank you! Of course Fight Circus style changes everything.

Here is the video I was talking about before the edit:

Little dude 1 punches and chokes big dude. Obviously people are more skilled nowadays but I hope you enjoy!
