How many fouls did Yadong commit?

I know I should just watch the fight, but what does this mean? How was it a decision victory, wasn’t it a five rounder main event? I looked up the result on google and it says Song by decision win round 3. Did round 4 start and then immediately end?
It was very odd. Henry decided to continue after the eye poke then on the stool after round 3 he decided he can't continue. The ref screwed up the rules in multiple ways - technically Henry should have lost by TKO (retirement) because you can't pull it back to a previous foul after continuing. The next mistake was that the ref thought the 4th had to begin for a technical decision to be given but actually the rules are only that the 3rd round had to be complete. So the ref started the 4th which is another mistake because you can't resume the fight if the fighter says he can't continue.

Just all around amateur hour.

Change the scoring system. 20 point must system, earlier point deductions for fouls.

Until the UFC gets tough on fouls, they are basically part of the meta. Sure you risk getting a NC if your opponent doesn't feel like toughing out the foul, but it's literally a guaranteed freebie at this point. Use them to get your gas tank up when you need a recharge. I don't agree with it, but it's the even playing field.

The UFC knows though that if they start penalizing fouls, in 3 round fights, you can get weird results. Not UFC, but look at Mousasi/Jardine becoming a draw, even after Mousasi basically destroyed him the whole fight. When fighters today fight 1-2x a year at most, it means tons of more rematches and weird ranking shifts if you actually deduct the points. 1 point could be everything in a fight.

Yeah, its weird that it wasnt a TKO. Thats what I thought it would be.

I'm not sure if its in the rules for mma, but you can continue the fight after a foul in boxing and then go to a technical decision from injuries caused by fouls. I am guessing this was the line of reasoning here.

The groin strike didn't look like it landed. Kind of felt like Cejudo was breaking at that point and the eye poke was a bit of a gift for him to get out of the fight early.

Not saying it wasn't a nasty poke, but let's be real here - Cejudo was not winning that fight and was on his way to a rough rounds 4 and 5.

Dong keeping his fingers out afterwards was bullshit though. Herzog probably should've taken a point.
He used like 20 seconds max on the groin kick. If he was breaking he wouldnt have rushed back into the fight.

Yes, i think Cejudo thought he was winning or something, should had quit right after the poke, i think he had a part in it going that long cause HE thought he was winning.

Yadong should be happy Trump wasn't in the building. He would have earned China another round of tariffs I reckon

I had no clue they could force a decision like that. Has it happened before to your knowledge?

I need to watch this to see how it went down. Sounds very weird. Sounds honorable that he decided to still go but it sounds like it just screwed him over in the end.

My belief is he thought It would get better and it didn't. If anything it got worse and he decided he couldn't continue.
Very bizarre set or circumstances

And if Yadong committed that Many fouls with no pts deducted than that's a huge referee fail

I remember two, the kick to the side of the cup and double eye poke, where once it got restarted he was extending his fingers to Cejudo´s face like it was a joke.

That eye poke was as bad as the knee sterling took...... In other words it wasn't bad at all he's a pussy and he quit. Cope.

Very simple. New rule, you poke your opponent's eye you get a point deducted. This will magically turn fighters into close fisted strikers immediately.

We need a ref with balls during a major title fight. Disqualify the next prick who does this at the highest stakes and watch how quickly the sport heals. Quicker than Henry's eyes, that much I can tell you.

I worry about you Hendry!

Then the ref started the 4th specifically so that Song could win the decision rather than get a no contest

I'm actually gonna push back a little on this... Henry didn't say anything about not being able to see until the round was over and he was in his corner. It's not on the ref to try to stop a fight if the fighter seems fine to keep going.

Henry said he couldn't continue in between rounds, then rather than stopping it immediately the ref told Henry he'd start the 4th and then stop it (which to my knowledge is unprecedented). The ref said he did this specifically so it would go to a decision rather than a NC.
