Fox/UFC ranked McGregor/Diaz 1 as the 2nd greatest UFC fight of all time, and then ranked the rematch as the greatest UFC fight of all time. I'll ignore the 2nd fight because IMO it was a legit great fight (but if you want to talk about it, go for it). I'm a relatively new fan but have gone deep on fight pass to learn the history of the sport. I also love watching a McGregor fight - he always steps up in the spotlight and his matches are always entertaining - but are we serious about him being involved in the 2 greatest UFC fights of all time?
How many of you would rank McGregor/Diaz 1 in the top 25?

None I was there at mgm and the look on the Conor nuthuggers face was priceless. I also won $1100 bucks on that fight

It would be in the top 25 I would’ve had it like around 20ish and been fine.... it was a huge upset for sure didn’t see it coming in as the 2nd biggest fight but the fight was the highest selling ppv fight till Diaz vs Conor 2... I’m a big Conor fan too and thought the 2 fight was deserved top 3

at least 700 better ufc fights than Diaz McGregor 1.
What a shit ending to ufc’s top 25 list.

More than 20 in the ufc, pro a ly closer to 50 if you add all non ufc events.

I don't think I'd consider it one of the best fights. One guy was tree times the other guys size.

Sounds like they were ranking it in terms of attention given to it. The 2 Conor and Nate fights had the most publicity of any fight and good to watch however in terms of a fight showing a high level of skill and both fighters pushing to the end I wouldn't rate the first fight between them in the top 20.

There are a number of much better fights such as Rory and Robbie, both fighters with a high skill level, fighting from bell to bell and for a championship that I would rate higher. Would also rate the Mir/Big Nog fight up there.

Not even top 25 in my view. The first fight had the surprise ending, but the second fight was sloppy and Diaz looked like crap. McGregor came back with a new game plan and Nate was unable to make any in fight adjustments. McGregor also gassed and could have lost the rematch as a result. So any talk that the rematch was a great fight is really not very objective. It was a big money fight, but not a great fight.

I’ve seen plenty of fights that were better. No doubt, there’s a lot of fan service with those picks. Whatever.

With that said, Conor always brings excitement to his fights. Similar to how I would feel for Anderson’s fights. And when it was revealed that Nate was going to be Conor’s opponent after RDA pulled out....

Apparently just 1

The rematch
man I loved the rematch, In my opinion that's a top 10 UFC fight of all time... but the first fight was not a great fight to me. Big upset? yes.. Was McGregor looking really good in the first round? yes. But he gassed and got taken advantage of. A great fight to me is competition, back and forth momentum, and resiliency. I believe @JayJayMMA is correct that the rankings were based off of sales and buzz more than actual greatness.

I think the list was made by people who started watching MMA in the last 3 years.

that was a entertaining fight but Holm v Honda and Nunes v Honda were more entertaining

Garbage list. Only surprised that Bonnar vs Griffin wasn't still being billed as the best fight ever, which was also a joke.
