Although it's good to remember that both the wrestling and boxing "credentials" for Stipe are essentially incomplete data sets. He stopped wrestling while still in college and even transferred to another school in order to focus on the more easily marketable skill of baseball. And his entire boxing stint was encompassed in a one-and-a-half-year sabbatical taken between the amateur and pro halves of his MMA career. Still long enough to get him to the quarterfinals of the national Golden Gloves championship, only to be stopped by Bryant Jennings who went on to have a considerable pro boxing career. Then the experiment was deemed over and he went back to the small gloves.
