Overeem won the ADCC European Trials for his weight in 2005 and was the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix Champion.

How many other fighters have a similar record? Both a legit grappling tournament victory and a K-1, Muay Thai or Boxing Title?

I think Overeem is the only one that held both such prestigous titles.

I remember him submitting Hunto in Pride. Very well rounded fighter.

Stipe is a NCAA division 1 wrassler and a golden gloves amateur boxing champion. Very impressive credentials imo.

There aren't that many who jump around between kickboxing, grappling and MMA that much, but a bunch of striking specialist have done well in grappling also. Aldo beat Cobrinha, Machida beat Rafael Lovato, Vitor has done well against some good guys at ADCC.

The Nogueira brothers have accomplishments in boxing and ADCC. But, neither of them has accomplishments in both.

So is Sonnen

Brock Lesnar was the WWE Champion and UFC heavy weight champion.

That's better imo.

Qualifying for ADCC >>>>> NCAA Div I Wrestling

K-1 Champion >>>>>>>>>>> Golden Gloves Amateur Champ
Winning the 2010 GP was huge, but the European ADCC Trial in 2005 being a great accomplishment has to be a joke.

Watch the videos, the level was so low that by today standards it's embarrassing.
Grappling evolved so much, especially in Europe, that tournament was composed of pioneers of grappling, i think there even was Latifi brother if i remember correctly.

Not sure of the exact credentials, and obviously Kharitonov did not have the striking credentials the equal of a K-1 champion, but he has some credentials in both submission grappling, in Boxing and in KB.

He flat out is a more well rounded fighter than Reem, and it clearly showed in his tooling of The Reem in their fight.

In fact, I think most would say that LITERALLY turning your back and RUNNING away from an opponent and getting obliterated by a punch to the back of the head (Not illegal due to Overeem's actions being a DQ in pure striking) proved that Reems striking simply was not on the level of Sergies!.

That gif is worth $1,000,000 and proves credentials are not the end all.

Oh I didn't know it was the European ADCC, I assumed all ADCCs were in Abu Dhabi

Eric Bradley was a D1 NCAA All American (multiple times IIRC) and an NCAA Boxing Champion. Not same level but still kinda cool.
