It puzzles me how Moicano had such an easy time against BSD. We have to be honest here and tell it like it was, he made Benoît look like he didn't even have the basics of fighting.
It looked like a seasoned, professional fighter matched up with somebody who dipped his toes in the amateur waters for the first time. Two very different levels.

But for some reason, these other top names in the division doesn't have it in them to exploit Saint Denis' lack of awareness when he's trying to overwhelm you.

At first, after their fight, my suspicion was that BSD must be overhyped. Too unpolished for ranked guys. But when he's going through Ruffy, Dariush, Hooker now the only explanation
that remains is Renato Moicano truly being elite. On a clearly higher level than these guys when it comes to IQ and to find what works.

Is that it, or was Renato somehow just lucky in how much better he looked? Thoughts?

Not only that, but he did it while badly injured before the fight. BSD is not that great. Hooker is awful, no wonder even the worst fighter in UFC history in Chandler KOed him in 30sec.

Its a bit like Paddy, you cant look that bad against someone like Jared Gordon and be great. BSD looked like it was his first amateur fight after 1 week of mma training against frking Moicano. You can get caught, but not getting destroyed like that. He should never sniff a title, he´s good but nowhere near champ material.

Now the fact that Paddy vs Gaethje just fought for the title and both looked horrendous makes you think that since the division is so thin and bad, he can get there lol.

I think you're a bit harsh on Moicano.

Look at the names of the guys he has lost to, I don't see any journeymen there.

Sure, not champ-level, but a very, very good fighter.

Nah it wasn't luck. People just think Moicano is a bum because of what Islam did to him and then losing the MMAth triangle between BSD and Benny.

Historically, Moicano is going to lose to guys who have a grappling edge, or can at least match his own skills (Benny, Islam, RDA). If you're not as skilled a grappler, you can certainly overwhelm him with firepower on the feet. BSD couldn't really do either of those things.

BSD took some vicious GnP early. Not surprising that he couldn't get back into that fight.

Moicano is a better fighter than BSD it isn’t rocket science. BSD isn’t a contender he’s just had a good run against some guys on the downswing.

2 more points.
1. I really think moicano is a bad match up for bsd. Moicano control on the ground particularly.
2. At the time of that fight, bsd had no real camp and no headcoach. Since that, he got the best guy available in france and has understood that he has to train in paris and not in a small village in the south of france if he wants to have some success in mma

Moicano is good until
he faces someone who knows he is fragile and sensitive to damage then he gets ko'd or choked

Maybe because 1 move 1 sequence can decide the fight. What a stupid analysis. made him look amateur. He got a good takedown and crushed him with damage. That's already the fight. One top position and a blowout in damage. Fighting isn't so linear and predictable.

Well to be fair... before Hooker decided to trip BSD into full mount Hooker was stopping the Takedowns and winning the fightb

Best take so far, I also think Moicano had a great game plan and stuck with it. He knew what he needs to do to win.

Hooker always sucked

<WellThere>
They surly do

I remember BSD got the absolute shot kicked out of him in the first but didn't he actually win the 2nd? I think him eye was far to gone and he wouldn't win the 3rd but that's still a bit impressive when half your face if missing.

Moicano is very good. Strong all-rounder but lacking speed and explosiveness. But he's got good reflexes and eyes.

Simply just a better grappler than BSD.

BSD made mistakes in the 1st, and he won the 2nd round. He was also in the middle of changing camp and his corner was awful.

I am very confident BSD wins a rematch.
