How is Jones going to beat Stipe?

He's literally better in every dimension of MMA except boxing (and he's a better overall striker).

There's no reason whatsoever to expect a competitive fight between them.

Writing Stipe off in a fight against Jones borders with casualness for me. It's funny how many people were proclaiming Miocic dead before he faced Ngannou the first time and that didn't happen. Then Stipe was also proclaimed done and shot, after DC finished him - but afterwards Stipe smashed DC two times in a row.

Miocic won't be taken down and submitted in 2 minutes like Gane. He is a hard hitting proper HW and the only one to eat clean punches from Ngannou and take the win, so Jones finishing him is not very likely. Could Jones win a decision? Possibly, but his last couple of fights against mediocre LHWs were a shitshow and Jones arguably lost one or both of them.

Stipe wins 49:46.
Stipe is, rightfully, an underdog here. But ppl acting like it’s a foregone conclusion are a bit to confident, IMO. Jon subbing Gane immediately doesn’t tell us much about where he’s at, as an athlete, right now.

Jones is better at every aspect of mma and will probably weigh more. Stipe has a power advantage but that’s about it

Dude, Stipe got finished decisively in 2 rounds against FN after getting outwrestled and getting KO'd Brutally, Gane lasted with FN for 5 rounds, Jon made a short work of Gane, also Stipe is 41 years old, hasn't won a fight since August 2020, and is 2-2 in his last 4, and Jon is the undefeated MMA GOAT, Stipe has 4 losses in his career, all of them were in the UFC!!!!

And also even tho I want him to win but STIPE WON'T WIN!!!!
That’s very much MMA math. That being said, yes Stipe is a rightful underdog. But I think he’s got more fight left in him than most ppl think. But, it could just be wishful thinking on my part.

Maybe he has a game plan no one knows but who knows? what if Stipe could pull it off, just cause he's 41 years old then it wouldn't mean he can't fight, like, there are the likes of: Glover, Romero, Couture, DC, Werdum, Bisping, Silva, Hendo, Holly...etc of these fighters who are world class athletes and train like animals for decades, and for that, they make age nothing but just a number.
I’m not suggesting that it’s not quite the uphill battle for Stipe. But ppl are acting like it’s a foregone conclusion that Jon’s going to run him over because he subbed Gane. Before that fight everyone was saying Jon’s beyond cooked because he had a few close fights at LHW.

Stipe is 40 and will be 41 by the time the fight comes. He didn't look good in his last few fights, eating a lot of shots, flat footed, slow.

He hasn't been competing in a long tmie and looks like he's crawling out of retirement for a big payday. It is very unlikely that he will be in optimal condition, and is way, waaaay past his prime.

Everyone saying Jon Jones wins by virtue of being "much, much better" is not being objective. The Stipe Miocic that defeated Francis Ngannou or Mark Hunt would probably beat any version of Jon Jones. Knowing how he looked against Ngannou and how hungry he was that night, I'd make him the betting favorite over any Jon Jones version.

So yeah, Jon Jones wins today. You got that right. But it's not because he's "much better." It's just because Stipe will be 41 and 3 months old by the time that fight happens, and he's almost blind at this point from DC's eye-pokes (the dude literally got a surgery years ago and can't see without glasses, which affects range management greatly).

This is current Stipe

And this is prime Stipe Miocic

Just to be clear, I would also be against putting 35-year-old Stipe Miocic against a 41-year-old Jon Jones. It would be super one-sided. The exact same scenario will play out, just with the roles reversed.

(35 is prime age. When Stipe was 35, he was also getting effortless first round finishes, but recency bias FTW)

Not saying Jon Jones isn't better. Yeah, he is better in most ways, no doubt about that. But now that Stipe is 41, the skill gap is the least of their concerns. A young, hungry Stipe can overcome any adversity, even if he were less-skilled than his opponent. But a 41-year-old Stipe? What are we even doing talking about skill? We should be talking about Stipe's next appointment with the optometrist, and with the orthopedist right after.

From all the interviews it sounds like Jones has been preparing for Stipe for a while now. Stipe usually starts kind of slow and I think Jones is going to get him down and GnP him out for a TKO, probably in the second round after picking at him on the feet. It'll probably look a little bit like Jones vs Gus 2 but shorter.

Stipe is coming for a paycheck, is old as fuck and has some brain damage this is a circus fight, he is not getting beat because Jones is the Goat , he is getting beat because he is way past his expiration date.

I don't think it's an easy fight for Jones.

I got Jones by anything he likes and I will put my money where my mouth is as long as Jones stays around -310
