How is Dominick Cruz a 'boring' fighter?

People are probably talking about his fights before he got injured. Cruz pre injury was boring as fuck and the true definition of a point fighter. Was there ever a round where he in the last 30 seconds didn't go for a takedown purely to gain points?

Post injury Cruz has however been very fun to watch. If you don't understand why some people think his older fights were boring you probably think Jon Fitch is one of the most exciting fighters to have ever lived.

You can like him. I like him, but I better not catch you fucks saying Demetrious Johnson is boring.
Yeah, I was kind of the same. I could certainly appreciate the effectiveness of his style, as I did with GSP, but I wasn't chomping at the bit to see him dance and jab around his next opponent. But I've grown to enjoy his fights more. Maybe his comeback story is part of winning me over.

DJ needs to go tear a couple ACL's apparently.

This post is dumb as hell, lol. Cruz is still the same style of fighter he always was, his second fight with Faber, title fight with MM and the rematch with benavidez weren't "boring "

Dillashaw made the fight interesting because he pressed the action and actually landed some decent shots.

Yea this fight was exciting because of all the hype but was probably one of Dom's least offensive performances. His best fight was against Jorgensen.

I think he's brilliant. He might have a better understanding of MMA than anyone else.

You are one of the most bitter and irritable people on this forum and that says a lot.

Johnson is boring and I like Cruz

Depends on what you like.

Cruz is a brilliant 10-9 fighter.

Me? I despise the Unified Rules and am sick of fights where we argue about who won 3/5 rounds.
Two guys trying to edge out rounds is not my thing.

Technicaly one of the best ufc fighter imo...cruz is like the georgio petrosyan of mma

Would love to see the most exciting finishing, executioner in the sport today, CM, do battle with the Decision8er at 145. As I think those are the two guys with the highest in-cage fight IQ in the entire promotion.

Two artists. Bringing the art back in martial arts.

I need to rewatch that Jorgensen fight I don't remember it at all. I think I only was half paying attention

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Cruz was a complete ghost, and his timing on his strikes and takedowns were beautiful. All in all, that was an excellent title-fight with a very high-action pace.

having power adds excitement since you never know when the fight could end, defensively he is very good if not the best at the stick and move style with excellent takedowns, but his lack of finishing power in fights doesn't lend well to the excitement you get in anticipation to power shots and KOs. To some people, playing a defense heavy game with little threat of a KO is boring. Same could be said for anyone in the smaller classes, weak striking and heavy wrestling and defense game.

It was completely one-sided but he showed a wide array of skills in that one: takedowns, GnP, head kicks, flying knees, footwork, etc. I think it's the only fight where he dropped someone with punches.

For me, any guy who has the capacity to finish but only does 38% of the time becomes stagnant. It's why i stopped rooting for GSP, he was content to not finish once he got the belt back when he was more than capable of it.

To me, his movement, angles, and defensive brilliance are like a work of art to behold.

His wrestling sort of reminds me of GSP. He can take down virtually anyone, by being in the right place at the right time.

He makes very good fighters look average.

Agreed.

That also makes him boring to watch.

He's got his own thing going on and respect his abilities. It's not what gets me excited to watch combat sports though. He's more about trying to avoid being hit than actually doing damage.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that I would go out of my way to miss a PPV that he's headlining. I'll still watch and I'll still be impressed, it's just not the style that I enjoy watching the most.
