Media How important is glute development for MMA fighters?

Only glutes that matter is the upper glutes. Men have larger upper glutes then women. Upper glutes is responsible for athleticism. Valerie is all lower glute like most women

Lol, source? The gluteus medius is responsible for hip abduction and external rotation IIRC. The gluteus major is the primary muscle group responsible for hip extension. Hip extension, which occurs in the saggital plane, is much more important to overall athleticism than hip abduction, which occurs in the frontal plane. Jumping high, running fast, shooting for a td, blocking in football, etc, all require powerful hip extension.

The Gluteus Medius aka the upper glute is the most important muscle for being agile, and being explosive. Men usually have bigger upper glutes then women, that's why men ass has that shelf look (no homo). Squats is a useless exercise to increase athletism, side lying hip abduction specifically targets the upper glutes much better exercise. Why do you think so many women have huge asses but are unathletic? Because they lack the upper glute like men have

Tyson Griffin is proof the glutes don't make the fighter

Pretty important

Been going hard on the hip thrusts for the last few years

A proper ass completely changes the way you move. Adds a ton to your raw explosiveness / athleticism as well. There's a reason why football players all have massive glutes

Needs to be combined with posterior chain / core development but it's up there in terms of importance

Next would be hips, neck, back, posture
