We almost exclusively get the poor immigrants who, largely due to racism in their own Hispanic countries, look Native American or Asian. We associate Mexico with brown people like we associate China with Chinese looking people. It's all we ever see.

So, a white guy with a Spanish last name is as likely at first to seem to an American to be a Spanish person without any roots at all to Mexico/ South America as he is to be a Hispanic person.

I couldn't agree more with the last part. Ive been to so many parts of the world and there are biggest issues than race. I hate that it is still an issue, but more often than not i see people actively looking to make it an issue when it was never there to begin with.

First of all a lot of Mexicans in America arnt that brown. I know that for a fact, clearly u don't live with Mexicans..I do, I live in a 90% Mexican town.

Lots of older Mexicans are sun burned as fuck...so they look browner than they should.

Sure people from chipas and Oaxaca are generally darker but they arnt the highest Mexican population in America, Mestizos are....and yes Indigenous people face racism.

Btw there is a ton of white skinned Mexicans in the u.s. Back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s most of the Mexicans coming over were from the north. Thats where the more European looking Mexicans live.

Most towns aren't 90% Mexican. Most of America outside of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas doesn't live around a lot of Hispanics and the ones they do are brown.
