How has your POV on Francis changed recently?

That he’s dumber than I thought. He’s basically being paraded as a charity case by Fury. The English fighter is bestowing a charity pay day for ‘po oh bubba’ lol. Quite embarrassing tbh.

Your faulty perceptions at the side, at the end of the day hes making alot more fighting Fury than the Jones fight. He made the smart choice

Dana's bootlickers are seething, and I'm all for it :D

I'm a Ngannou fan, only time I ever rooted against him was the Ciryl Gane fight.

I'm always supporting champions sticking it to the fat goof (on top of my head, Fedor & GSP were the only top fighters to have done it to such an extent before), and watching Dana's glowies having meltdowns on sherdog is a nice bonus. <5>

chasing money over legacy so zero respect as a fighter, and the fight against fury wont happen as well

I don't really care to see the two top heavyweights in their respective sports, wasting everybody's time fighting a glorified sparring match when there's a bunch of great challengers for both guys in boxing/MMA.

Fury in particular has barely fought anybody apart from Wilder in the past 5 years.

He already won the title and defended it,what more does he HAVE TO do?
wdym,he had the chance to cement his legacy as goat hw,instead he wasted his prime and chased the big payday which is actually the same as ufc offered him lol

Goat doesnt mean anything. It's worthless.

Beating Jones who is 1-0 as a HW dont mean anything for who is the best HW of the next 5 mins anyway. He should go get that money.

Not only did he make a lot more money fighting Fury, he is going to continue to make top dollar after the fight, which may not have been true in the UFC as his salary after the fight would have been conditional rather than guaranteed.

Funny how people are still sticking to their old disproven narrative about him being better paid in the UFC.

Just to suck my own dick for a second I was one of the folks getting into long debates right after Francis left the UFC arguing that he made the right choice.

A lot of people on here would eat crow if they were honest
You are exactly right my friend; many continue to deny he has won in the face of overwhelming evidence.

Except- do not attempt to fellatiate yourself my friend; that can cause neck damage and spinal paralysis.

It's gone from "Francis is an idiot who ruined his career by leaving the UFC and he'll never get a fight against the top boxers" to now "Francis is ONLY earning $8m to fight Fury" LOL (it's actually 8 figures, not $8m).
I haven't seen even one definitive source on what he will be paid... I have literally seen people say things from less than 8 to frigging 40 million.... im assuming it depends on the ppv sales like if it sells a million ppvs that's like 50 million in profits and there is probably like a 80 / 20 split that's $10,000,000 that said I have no idea if a million people want to see this fight.

Casuals will eat up the idea of MMA champ vs Boxing champ; it's a great thing to market. It will pull from both casual fanbases, which encompasses a whole of people (a strong majority of both fanbases).

Actually that’s not true. Well it might be depending if the fight does actually take place which is still 50/50. It’s a circus exhibition. With that said, he has zero marketability and he doesn’t help himself either. Rampage made 5 mil in a single fight, Brock made millions per fight , Conor , etc. Point is, if ngannou had an ounce of personality and did his part in selling fights = he would make 10’s of millions in the ufc. This circus exhibition is going to be his last ‘big pay day’ and it’s only what 8 million dollars? Lol subtract half of that to taxes expenses etc that’s peanuts. And Fury is going to have to carry the Nagnnou not only in the fight but promoting the fight ( if fury even wants to he’s already filthy rich) . Many of the previous Dubai circus cards have not fared well.

Went from a piece of shit for upselling sanitizer during a pandemic,

to showing that Jones is a pathetic squirrel (who hides for THREE YEARS to avoid a fight)...

THEN ... in three months of ridiculous, relentless hate from "mma fans" ...

he pulls off multiple deals for what he wanted.

Giving a giant fuck you to UFC, and making jones happy to debut at HW.

WAR FRANCIS

Not at all..

Liked him as a fighter the whole time..

I'm a little disappointed as an mma fan, jones vs ngannou would have been something.. i think stipe might pose a bigger problem though seen through the perspective of ngannou -miocic 1..

As someone who realizes the window for a fighter is very narrow and personal conviction beats most things i'm obviously very happy for him..

Does people read way to much into it.. absolutely..

Ngannou bless though!

For me, Francis has gone from a fighter I liked up to an elite favorite in light of recent events. Here is why:

I am wildly impressed with what he has done. If he had wussed out and crawled back to the security of the UFC and allowed himself to be punked by Dana, he would have lost out in a huge way. So many (on Sherdog and elsewhere) were saying that he was going to end up with nothing if he didn't take the UFC's offer.

Francis has king-sized balls in walking away from that. After walking away, he then pulled some real magic in getting a big money deal to fight the HW champion as well as the PFL. And he has guaranteed money and the company involvement that he wanted and never got with the UFC when he resumes his MMA career. His UFC contract would have given him a chance to make 8 million, but no guarantees beyond that, and if lost he would be back to peanuts; obviously a far shittier deal.

While unlikely, imagine the huge payday Francis would get in his next fight if he did hit the lotto and catch Fury with a KO punch. Yet another opportunity that he wouldn't have with the pink goof.

While some try to diminish his altruism and outreach to other fighters, the fact is, what he is doing matters. He has planted the seed that fighters don't always need the UFC and can look out for one another. Whether or not you think Francis is sincere in these sentiments is irrelevant- his actions have already spoken, and that is what is necessary for eventual change.
Yes, I wasn't particularly a fan prior because I thought/think his striking was pure shit and I prefer more skilled fighters generally. Now he's acted like a man and not cucked to Dana White I love him, one of the few fighters in UFC history who didn't get played by the UFC. I'm still not a fan of the swing for the fences style mind, and he's going to get utterly embarrassed by Fury and taught a lesson in proper striking... but who cares, he's already won.

Honestly, no, and I think this idea that he has huge testicular fortitude for leaving the UFC is kinda silly. The dude escaped the worst world conditions where he was basically human trafficked. He like, floated across on ocean on a stale crouton to escape human trafficking and people are citing him leaving the UFC to fight in Bellator/PFL/OneFC/boxing as him being "brave."

If you didn't know Francis had life perspective and bravery before leaving the UFC after making millions you weren't paying attention.

I was a Ngannou fan and was so excited for his rematch with Stipe, thought he would beat him and be an active champ, I believed all of it. Ngannou was begging for opponents who wouldn't sign to fight him. Then waited a year for him to fight Gane and was excited, then he fought with a knee injury and had nothing on his horizon after. We've seen 3 fights from Ngannou since 2020 and it's just impossible to be a fan of that. Blitzed Rozenstruik, got revenge on Stipe showing his wrestling is better now, then wrestled Gane to win a split decision. UFC offers 3 fights a year, that's 9 he could've had until this year.

Glad he's getting paid, especially from where he came from. That said I really only care about the sport, not the personality or lives of the fighters so there's only so much I care about money some fighter makes. Especially when you see guys like Conor make Mayweather money and never look the same again. If Ngannou's opponent is getting 2M every time, then I will be surprised if we can even see him fight 2x in 2024 for PFL.

I actually think Fury will let him gas out the first couple rounds and carry him just like Mayweather did to sell the show, then people can take the match as a moral victory for Ngannou hanging in with Fury. To me it's all a waste of time as a fan of both sports. While its great to show you can be a MMA fighter and make money outside of UFC, not every fighter can get a Fury fight. I'll be happy if there is another Pride level org that rivals the UFC, but I'm not sure that's whats coming from this.
