How good was Tito Ortiz?

Ortiz’s primary rivals Chuck and Randy destroyed Ortiz when they matched up in their Primes.

His primary rival was Ken Shamrock, whom he destroyed like 4 times. Randy was never a rival. This is why you should go back and watch fights/events instead of reading about it Wikipedia.

Dumbest post in the history of Sherdog.

Congrats goofball.

I think considering how long he's been around, he evolved quite well.

First fighter to really be able to do significant damage inside opponents guard.

Say what you want, he really held the ufc on his shoulders during the dark ages of MMA.

pretty good, good ground and pound, his biggest wins were Wandy and Vitor but Chuck was a horrible matchup for him for sure, also him beating Bader was one of the biggest upsets I've seen

Very very good. Underrated boxing. Liked his bellator run aswell tbf, actually had a decent career resurgence. Beat everyone's hero chael sonnen

When Tito was on top everybody was a fan. Was one of the first names to break out into the mainstream public. He wasn’t the most skilled but found ways to win.

he proved who the one and only bad boy is! he won as a fighter and in intelligence, he deceived the "smart" Chael in the fight.

Tito is a UFC legend.

Just like Conor is.

Are they the best of their era? Probably not.

Will they be remembered more?

Likely

Terrible comparison but Conor cracked his ankle and Ortiz claims to have had a cracked skull.

So maybe there are some similarities.

Taking an objective look at his career, he beat up mostly undersized guys, MWs (even lost to a few, Frank Shamrock) and a WAY over the hill Ken Shamrock X 3.

I know their will inevitably be the simpletons that will jump on this thread and call Ortiz a “legend” and that he carried the UFC in the early days.

But if I recall correctly, Ortiz avoided fighting Liddell for like 3-4 years and fought guys like Elvis Sinosic and Patrick Cote??

I would say Ortiz ranks behind guys like Serraldo Babalu and definitely Machida in the all time UFC LHW greats.

What say you?
Spot on assessment.

His best days were before guys learned how to use the fence to get back up.
