A legitimate argument could be made that Butterbean is actually one of the best P4P fighters ever. With all that unnecessary weight on him he still managed to pull off victories in boxing, kickboxing and MMA. Imagine a shredded Butterbean without the weight slowing him down.

surely all that blubber helped to absorb strikes. not saying it's still not impressive, only pointing out that there is one advantage to being that fat. on the other hand, being a fatass usually hurts your cardio.

Butterbean is awesome!! Out of all of the PRIDE freaks, he was my favorite. Really entertaining and always sounded like a candid guy.

I also like how he finished that wrestling guy, something something O'Hair. It looked like he died in Butterbean's arms. Also, he has some brutal KOs in boxing.

"Did he died?"

I define Butterbean's BJJ as smoth, soft, with a tight, solid bottom end and suave highs, his transitions were creative and surprising, unexpected yet logical, with a right amount of unorthodoxy sprinkled here and there, and topped all that with a godly timing.
Fair assessment.

He is a legend of the sport.

Chael recently had Butterbean as a guest on his podcast, and it was amazing.

He didn't ask a single question about the Genki Sudo fight though, and I will never forgive him for that.

77-10 pro boxer with kickboxing experience and dangerous submission grappling game. The most well rounded MMA fighter ever at least on paper.

Eric Esch was just the definition of a fighter. Loved to fight, and loved the craft.
