How good Magomed Ankalaev is in comparision to best LHW all time?

Loses to prime DC, Jones, Rumble, Gus, and Glover pretty soundly

You could favor a few others over him as well but those are the obvious ones who’d likely embarrass him.
“Soundly” only applies to DC and Jones imo. Ank would finally stop Rumble(RIP) imo, but the firs 2 rounds there was always that ko possibility. Prime Gus would be the slight favorite. Glover would get UD’d.

Oh no, I’m totally on one. Not denying that.

To me Glover was totally better than those guys. And like you said Shogun was good when he was young, and that was forever ago, during a weaker time.

I get what you’re saying, and I’m not afraid to get shamed for this opinion. But I really do believe there’s a much bigger knowledge base now, better nutrition, better weight cutting, more participants, better and more variation in training partners, more experienced coaches, etc.

I think talent is talent so maybe if in some fantasy land we had a young rampage or whoever training in todays conditions he would be good. But if we transported pride rampage over here today, yes Johnny walker might kick his ass.

So I stand on this opinion. Unfortunately there’s no way to test it. Shame away. No Johnny walker isnt kicking a prime rampages ass either.

Shogun was stronger in a weaker time? Do you realize how shit LHW is right now?

I favor over him: Jones, DC, Gus, Rumble, Machida, Liddell
50/50: Evans, Glover, Jiri, Jan, Poatan

He's good but he's no Paul Craig

after taking two chances in order to ko johnny walker and barely scraping a win (razor thin decision) in a fight in which he had 0% td success against a pure striker that is still learning how to wrestle he's the best lhw of all times.

He would have a .500 record vs all the best LHW of the past 15 years but would lose to most of the elite.

Jones, DC, Gustaffson, Rumble, Glover all beat him.

Forrest, Rashad, Machida, Hendo I think he beats.

Rogerio, Shogun, Rampage would be great fights and I wouldn't pick a winner.

Davis, Bader, Anderson...I don't know cause I've never seen him vs a heavy wrestling style.

I dunno man I'm looking at everyone on Poatan's resume and I comfortably pick big Ank to beat them all.

Poatan ducked big Ank for a very long time and for good reason. You're really showing your lack of confidence when you're fighting #8 ranked Khalil Rountree instead of the #1 contender. Saw the very same thing with Sean O'Malley when he snubbed Merab in favor of a Chito rematch.

He didn't beat Blachowicz.

I expect the Ankalaev era to last about as long as the Machida era. There's never been a guy who won the belt on such a pitifully mediocre performance.

Prime Glover would be too much for Ankalaev.

I personally think Poatan wins the rematch and gets his title back.

But I can certainly see Ankalaev losing to Ulberg. But I think he beats Jan at this stage. Jiri would be interesting.

Rampage is underrated, at some point he was the total package and imho the best lhw of all time.

He's like Rashad Evans. He can strike, he can wrestle, & he can finish a fight.
