Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the NRA been in the toilet with the vast majority of gun owners for years now? Seems like they are right on this one though if the position is just limiting gun ownership based solely on being trans.

It would be nice if we could ban mentally ill people but the aclu has blocked that in the past.

Yes, unless they are deemed, on an individual basis, to be unfit by the court.

From the article it should only come up in a background check if a judge has ruled the person mentally incompetent. There is no law preventing mentally ill people from owning guns. The NRA will not want any restrictions on guns for any group. They want guns available to everyone. This is a weird one. NRA fighting for trans rights and gun control peeps will be fighting for 2nd amendment haha.

The NRA isn't fighting for trans rights, lol. They fight for the dollar. We are peripheral damage. Guns kill people. Companies that make guns want to sell them. The NRA protects that.

Im making light of the situation brotha. Obv their motivation is money but they are doing it. But im really just making fun of the irony of the situation. I do think there's a real motivation for the NRA though. They don't want the government to start saying who can and can't have guns. If this is just going to be an executive order then that's easily out the window with the next president. But the danger for them is that this leads to gun control laws and that slippery slope that everybody is afraid of if you are pro second amendment.

And the supreme court upheld that a few years ago. Mental illness is broad and youd have to segregate because things like depression, bi-polar etc are mental illnesses. There are too many to start saying they can't use the same 2nd amendment rights as others. The only scenario would be if a judge determined that you are mentally incompetent. That one is flagged on a background check

I will say though, I used to live in the DC Metro area and drive past their HQ a few times a week. It's a very liberal area to have firearm central. Never saw any Mango Molester signs anywhere and that was during his first term.
