How does everyone feel about the spending bill?

Trump pretending he gives a shit about DACA. Hey Trump - Dems would sign a clean DACA protection bill in a New York Minute. So if you are so concerned about them, and not using them as leverage for your border wall than step up and demand a clean DACA bill and vote.

And a big LOL - it's a spending bill. If Dems filibusted and caused a shut down over no DACA inclusion Trump and the GOP would be all "Dems using a SPENDING bill to try and force immigration changes". In fact, that's exactly one of the charges against the Dems by Trump and the GOP during their ridiculous 2 day shutdown last time.

Fucking Clown.

Any of you Trump Lick Spittles want to explain, the discretionary spending level of $1.3 trillion in this Omnibus is higher than any year in the Obama Administration.

I thought Obama was ruining the country with all his spending. For 8 fucking years, I listened to the GOP complain about the deficit. Then the GOP controls all branches and then INCREASES THE FUCKING DEFICIT.
It is amazing that next time there is a Dem as President, the GOP will pedal their we hate deficits and the rubes will buy it once again.

I remember when the GOP was against the deficit, this current crop of charlatans will say whatever to get the rubes votes and once elected will run this country into the ground, in service of their largest donors.

You have only just come to realize this?

Insert many graphs here.

Point out Eisenhower was the last R to leave office with a surplus here.

They are the kings of double standards... the Dems are a close second.

Nah...

Christians
Republicans
Democrats

It really bothers me that so many voters don't seem to care. How is that both sides can agree that student debt is an issue (Republicans say students shouldn't take out loans that they won't be able to pay back, and Democrats say college is too expensive) and yet somehow not come to the conclusion that our spendthrift nature as a country is dangerous?

Anyone only ever cares about deficits when their opposition party is in office

Reality is gov sector deficits create private sector wealth, but we'll just ignore that fact and feign outrage whenever it isn't our team who's spending

You do realize that the gov's debt (which it will never have to repay btw) isn't your debt?

Democrats only care about deficits when a Republican is president. But go ahead and keep spreading your dividing propaganda, sucka

I'll say this in defense of the GOP here. This budget is mostly a f-u to Trump. They increased spending almost everywhere he wanted it cut - from non-voucher school spending to the NEA.

In that regard, I can actually respect this effort even if it contradicts the idea of less spending.

But we're in a boom right now. Why increase the debt?

They're also about to raise interest rates so the percentage of our GDP that goes to servicing the debt it going to climb not just the debt total.

Yeah I saw that they rejected Devos's budget and gave her more than she asked for lol

Yea most consertives want to keep the deficit as low as possible or in the black.

Trump should be looking at ways to do that. I don't know his long term plan but this doesn't look like he is going in the r8ght direction.

However the democrats said a big deficit was nothing to be troubled over. Has that change now.

I take it you haven't paid attention to any of the discussion over how Trump's tax bill, and an increased debt, would make it more difficult for the US to handle a financial crisis.

I mean really, if we don't have to worry about the national debt, why not just borrow an extra order of magnitude every year? Why stop there even? Let's just borrow everything, fund everything, and no American has to pay for anything.

It's not the deficit total as much as it is how much it costs to service the debt and how it relates a % of GDP.

Why would you want the government to be at a surplus? That's just money that's being kept out of the overall economy. What good is that doing?

You shouldn't look at Government debt like credit card debt or a mortgage. Hopefully the US government is perpetual and there will always be debt. But the debt can get out of hand .

Repubs fuck up the economy > Dems save the economy > Repubs lie about Dems > Repubs fuck up the economy.....

Much better point than I'm trying to make, which is simply that everyone should fucking understand that borrowing too much is a bad idea and that there are an infinite number of examples out there for all of us to see.
