How do you see Cormier vs. Stipe playing out?

I have a hard time imagining how this fight plays out. Usually when this is the case, the fight gets called off. I am not a psyhcic, just a tax accountant who is on Sherdog too much in his spare time. But the last time I couldn't predict how the styles would clash was Khabib vs. Tony.

I don't think this fight happens... Cormier or Stipe gets hurt. Sorry.

But in the rare chance it does happen, what goes down? Do you guys think Cormier can wrestle Stipe? Has anyone outwrestled Stipe in the UFC? We know he is an accredited wrestler and utilized his wrestling in his offense quite successfully a few times... but has anyone tried to wrestle him? How will he hold up?

He sometimes leaves his head exposed and with the real threat of takedowns that Cormier imposes, this could be interesting because I can see him getting clocked with an overhand. And what will Stipe's cardio be like defending so much pressure?

We know Cormier can take a shot, he took a real shot from Rumble and lived to talk about it. Can he take Stipe's shots? Stipe is without a doubt the baddest man on the planet, but the HW division is also pretty shit. He is on a nice run, but Francis aside (who has never been really tested, he just had a couple nice KOs and got pushed to the moon), Stipe never fought prime level competition.

The focus of this fight I feel revolves on Cormier's wrestling... he could ragdoll the likes of Barnett, Hendo, etc... but against Jon Jones and Alex Gus who have physical traits (6'3 or taller, long reach) similar to Stipe, he did not have success at all.

Close fight

Before UFC 220 i would of said Stipe for sure, but now im picking DC

Like connect-4. Just like it.

Cormier will do a great job but Stipe will break his strong will in the championship rounds, almost as bad as jones did. Stipe wins.

Stipe finishes him within two.

Very excited to watch this fight, hope TS is wrong about an injury.

I could see it going to either man but my head says Stipe wins.

DC is so thick and durable I'm not sure Stipe can hurt him with punches. If Stipe wins it will be through stuffing takedowns and simply outscoring him on the feet (which is highly possible).

DC could win in a equally boring fashion by being able to take him down and laying on him for 5 rounds. It will be as exciting as DC's fight with Anderson.

what will happen if DC wins. He is HW champ. His on and off again BF Luke Thomas Rockhold is going to LHW... rumor that Cain is cutting down to LHW also... lets say Jones comes back, does he fight DC at HW for the HW belt?

Cormier is gonna have to mix it up and use dirty boxing I think. My first reaction was Stipe is gonna stuff his grappling and beat him up on the feet but I think Cormier will be able to come in with a good game plan. This could be a great matchup for fireworks.

Cormier tries to clinch

Feels how strong Stipe is

Fails to take him down

Gets clipped on the temple by a right hand

Finished with GNP

Stipe 1st or 2nd round

yes if Rockhold is really going to fight for an interim LHW title I doubt DC will drop back down to fight him (assuming Rockhold can beat Gus haha). Not sure DC goes back to LHW ever to be honest.

similarly DC will not defend the HW title against cain so...

If DC wins he will probably try to get a HW fight with Brock Lesnar or something with Jon Jones then retire.

Either we realize how hard Stipe hits as he pounds Cormier back to LHW

Or Stipe is made too look human as DC slams him to a grinding Victory

dc ko's/tko's him within 2 via faster hands
he won't wrestle him and waste time cuz stipe is too big

Stipe via short right hand behind DC's left ear

I'd say Stipe will handle him, because Cormier's power looked unimpressive in the UFC HW division.

But then JDS easily put Stipe on the ground with awkward technique from the clinch.
