Would you consider yourself successful in work/life?I just don't give a shit. Honestly, I'm not trying to be funny but work/life stuff just doesn't really weigh on me like it does some people. I really just don't care. It is what it is.
Moderately. I do OK.Would you consider yourself successful in work/life?
Legit curious.
Well, let's find out.Curious to see what @Overpressure has to say
Same logic applies. You go in well prepared, and you won't choke. Gameplanning. This isn't about sports just life in general. Can't really prepare for all life has to throw at you like it's a particular event lol.
Lol. Gameplanning for life. The only way to game plan is to see all or most of the variables and life has too many twists and turns for a successful game plan. I believe in building yourself up so you can handle most situations but gameplanning is a bit much IMO.Same logic applies. You go in well prepared, and you won't choke. Gameplanning.
Say what?I dont believe there is, therefore...
Say what?
Good stuff Zen master! My boss was on me today about a report thats due, I straight told her Im never in a rush and Ill maintain my zen this weekend and it will get done, not to worry. She laughed and called me a funny guy and said fine carry on. Any pressure I would feel is created inside not externally. I choose to not feel pressure about anything.
In the past I dealt with it simply using deep breathing and rationalization. Ive never been one to panic and these days I think those old techniques I used are so ingrained that any potential pressure I dont recognize as such. Among friends and associates Im well known for being the most relaxed human they know.

I deal with pressure maybe too coolly. Some think I'm not taking things seriously, but I just realize that one way or the other, I will be fine. I shoulder roll that shit off me.
From K-12, college, subsequent work training, required professional continuing education, you ARE gameplanning for life. You're supposed to be learning so you can handle whatever you're likely to encounter.
You know those people who always get flustered easily and freak out? Those are the ones who didn't learn what they were supposed to so don't know what to do. They probably spent too much time getting high and drunk instead of doing their homework.
Guess which type is more likely to handle pressure better. Educated or easily flustered.
Lol, I have nothing figured out. I just see death and change as something that is unavoidable. To stay the same is to become stagnant, and die. I appreciate the kind words anyway. It is a personality trait more than anything. These posters seem to have it figured out.
My philosophy is similar. I spend my time thinking of ways to solve a problem rather than wasting time praying, meditating, drinking, taking drugs, worrying or freaking out.
I've had managers ask how long is it going to take to repair something. I tell them it will take 3 days and $9,000 to get the parts and another day to put it together or I can spend 4 hours welding this and have it back up and running in 5 hours total. They want it welded in 2 hours. I tell them if they want it to hold it will take 4 hours. If I shortcut it and it breaks the weld then it takes an hour to take it apart again, an hour to cut and grind the weld then 4 hours to weld it correctly and another hour to assemble it.
Many managers feel that their job is to put people under pressure and try to intimidate people. The only person who can put pressure on you is you.
Must disagree strongly. I made this thread not to focus on people who stand up to bosses or the like. Is there pressure there? Perhaps? But the type of pressure I am talking about is basically unavoidable. Let me give you a few examples. These posters seem to have it figured out.
