How do you feel about GSP tapping to strikes?

Oh the irony. Your name, your avatar......really dude?

BJ Penn didnt even come out of his corner, he tapped before coming out for the next round. You are a shite poster.

Just forever a salty BJ fan.

This has nothing to do with bj penn. Why do you gsp fans deflect any legitimate criticism back to another fighter. You guys are like cheating spouses that get caught and blame the person they are actually cheating on. Be a man and defend your pedestrian guy, otherwise leave the discourse to adults.

THIS IS OLD NEWS PEOPLE--YES HE TAPPED TO STRIKES BUT IT WAS ALSO A DIFFERENT ERA-A DIFFERETN TIME ON THE UFC TIMETABLE, HE FELT HELPLESS IN THAT POSITION-AND NEW IT WAS NOT GETTING BETTER AND HE WOULD EVENTUALLY TAKE MORE DAMAGE--SO HE TAPPED OUT--I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH IT AND ACTUALLY SEE IT AS A VERY SMART TAPOUT REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE TAP WAS FUELED BY

its pretty disgraceful to be honest. It wouldnt be if he were injured during the fight and needed to get out of there to save himself from further injury, but he tapped to a journeyman lw in his first title defense. Its such a bad look and yes it definitely taints his legacy.

He lost control of his equilibrium, and couldn't defend himself.

The alternative was to get KO'd.

So you admit that BJs loss to GSP was disgraceful then?

Using your very own logic here......

There shouldn't be any stigma against it. We've seen refs not aware of the danger someone is in and if the fighter knows they are done then it's better for their health to take less damage if a loss is still incoming.

- Tapping cause someone is putting you to sleep = is normal.
- Tapping cause someone is plastering your brain across the canvas = pussy move.

I'll never understand that

These are my thoughts too, CTE ain’t no thing apparently but saving a broken arm is acceptable.

GSP got caught and couldn't win at that point. Dude was completely out and had the good awareness to end it there to prevent further damage and went on to have a long career.

Look at it this way. Let's say he suffered a ton of further damage and managed to somehow come back and eek out a win in zombie mode. Could he have kept fighting and pulled out wins against other tough fighters later in his career - surviving against Carlos Condit etc? Probably not - he was smart and because of that stayed healthy and had greater career longevity.

Can I try your time machine? It sucked ass, but Georges was clearly a shadow of himself that night.

He knew he was done, no problem with that. GSP wasn’t some idiot who would rather go to sleep than save himself for another day. There’s a reason he went on to have a great career.

The other option was letting Matt Serra get 5 more shots in.
So that's what GSP should have done ?

What’s more disgraceful, quitting while someone’s on top of you smashing your head in, or quitting on your stool between rounds, under no duress?

Losing to Matt Serra is probably more embarrassing than tapping to strikes.

Address the issue here or go start a bj penn quit on the stool thread. One has nothijg to do with the other. Talk about how georges failed that night against a journeyman lw that bj had already beaten years prior when the guy was in his prime.

Whether he did or not, he avenged it.

I find it strange that GSP gets criticized on this forum, as he has had a great career, and acts respectfully, as a rolemodel should.

At least GSP fans accepted he tapped, unlike Shogun's. "He was just giving props to Jon maaaaan"
2 completely different circumstances, GsP tapped because he panicked under a barrage of punches, Shogun had shit beat out of him.

I did state my thought on it about 2 posts before I quoted you. You seem angry.

if someone is done they are done....no more shame in tapping to strikes than anything else....

Sapp being an exception of course....

hmm interesting point of view....do you feel that tapping during the fight without a serious injury having occurred is worse or better to quitting on the stool after saying that the fight was to the death and having not sustained a serious injury during the fight?
