I have 2 doggies

I named the first Layla after Dereck & The Domino's/Eric Clapton song.

My second was named Sadie after The Spinners/R Kelly song.

What about you? How did you come up with your dogs or pets name?

Which one?

Abby eldest cat is named after NCIS character who is Goth and cat is black so , cat called Abby

Poppy middle cat- got her in November, poppy is the flower.

Eden -youngest cat- got suggested as a silly name and it stuck but I'm the only one who calls her that , everyone calls her Dracula as she used to be snuggled up and then would attack.

Gizmo - eldest dog- he has a stripe on his head like the gremlin but didn't want to call him that so he got given a ' good ' name , the nice Mogwai.

Zena- youngest dog -not sure. I think I suggested it as a nerdy silly name and family liked it. I insisted on spelling it with a Z not X though.

We have 2 Boston Terriers, one called Winston, just seemed a good distinguished name for him at the time as he looks quite dignified, even though hes a highly strung bag of energy, The second one , which is his Grandmother who we rescued, was already called Halo. Which is quite contradictory as while she is an absolute sweetheart to humans , shes a complete psychopath to any other animals ,no back down at all. Possums , chickens , rats..no mercy.

Punches way above her weight and has nipped at all sizes of bigger dogs from Pitbulls to Rhodesian Ridgebacks ( luckily they were on leads too) which is why we dont let her get close to anything.

Lady - She's a cocker spaniel and she looks exactly like the dog in Lady & the Tramp.

Champ - Looks like the dog from Lady & the Tramp. But instead of Tramp we changed it to Champ. He was a mix breed.

Hailey - Was originally Bailey when we adopted her at the shelter and we thought Hailey sounds better.

Brandy - My current dog, she was also named Bailey when we adopted her from the shelter. Changed her name to Brandy.

My last dog (now deceased) was a staghound (crossbreed but looked like a very large fawn coloured greyhound).

I had him for two weeks and still hadn't found a name for him. Every 5 years or so I go through a phase of listening to a heap of Frank Zappa. I was listening to that and looking at him saying 'what am I going to call you?'
He was laying there looking down his long nose at me like greyhounds do, then I looked back at my computer screen and Zappa was playing something live and his big nose was at a prominent angle at the time and I looked back and said 'what about Frank?' His ears pricked up a little so that was it.
I nerded it up and called him Franklin because it amuses me when dogs have nerdy or human names.

One of the best dogs I had

Donald Plainfield — was Daniel Plainview for about a month until it was clear there was a personality clash between cat & his namesake, so i changed it.

Doofus — was Tetsuo: The Iron Man for < a week (adopted her the same day as Donald) when i just started calling her Doofus, which stuck.

Donkey — my gf’s cat whose name is actually Pony, but i’ve only ever called him Donkey, or Donkus.

My dog Baxter (rip) was a Cairn Terrier, a Scottish breed. My wife thought up a Scottish sounding name after the brand of shortbread cookies.

My pet newts that I had from 2009 to about 2018 were Newton (get it, Newton the Newt) followed by Darwin and Einstein.

My first axolotl that I had about 15 years ago was Aristotle (just because it rhymed).

Currently I have two pet axolotls that my kids named, Glowy (who is genetically modified with GFP so it glows under black light) and Axy.

Gufe'... pronounced Guffy.
It just came to me months before I got him.

IIRC, came to me after a longer run.
Usually have better ideas during or after, ime.
It's different, sounds warm/fun & kinda chill.
Fits dude well;
