How did Jones look terrible?

He should have finished in the 4th, OSP was finished and Jones not rusty finishes it IMO. He looked okay, not like he usually does. DC acting like he would have won had he fought that Jones. I still doubt it.

At first glance I thought the thread said *Howard Jones is Terrible*

No he is not.....

Jones likely wanted as much time as possible in the cage after his extended layoff, he didn't look great but he didn't look bad either. You can't perform at 100% all the time.

People on sherdog just hare anyone who gets too successful as it reminds them of how pathetic their own lives are, they feel like they have to tear people down over almost every perceived slight, hence why GSP was hated for being a blanket (you have to KO every opponent apparently), Mcgregor is hated even though he is game as fuck and took big risks that Aldo never did and now Jones is hated because God forbid you have an off night after 15 months on the sidelines. I mean it happens to everyone, Silva had one bad fight against Maia and people were screaming to the rooftops about how much he sucked and how overrated he was, Sherdoggers are just negative individuals on average who will invent a reason to hate on people as it makes them feel better about themselves.

And Jones beat the brakes off both those guys. What's your point?

Is this a Jones fan thing? To quote half my post and leave out the answer to your question in the part you skipped? lol Both of you did the same thing.

Wouldn't say he looked terrible, but:

He felt gun shy and other than spamming kicks to the knee of OSP he just didn't do anything particularly impressive.

Octagon rust, probebly had a bit of adrenaline dump early on and OSP literally looked like he wanted no part of actively engaging in the fight. Jon looked good considering all the circumstances, it's hard to fight a guy who was moving back and content with not actively engaging in any type of offense. Bones hands, head movement, footwork, and timing looked on par, he just wasn't super aggressive and picked his spots. Overall he looked fine and was prepared to go the full 5, I also think since he didn't have proper time to game plan for OSP JWJ came up with a limited and conservative game plan to ensure the W before securing a finish.

Jones said the change of opponent was why he looked a bit off, it was not ring rust. Conor felt the same way.

OSP seemed VERY exhausted (and obviously not as experienced) most of the time and it took Jones 5 rounds to beat him.

I want to see how Jones handles a full fight camp OSP

Gotta judge the man by the standards he sets. Jones didn't really look much better than any of the last three guys to have beaten OSP.

He dominated and all OSP did was keep trying to avoid the fight. Jones is the best ever

He took a fight against a guy who he should have absolutely destroyed who had 3 weeks to prepare and went to a decision. By the end of the fight he was himself again, but those first 3 rounds were pretty close and they wouldn't have been.

As Jones said himself, he was upset with his performance and definitely felt the rust.

Imo he did not look terrible. And in complete honesty. He was almost exactly what I thought he was going to be. That's why I was so jacked for the rematch.

And this isn't an attack on Jones. But there were many many reasons to expect the calibre of performance that we saw from Jones last night.

That was DC'S best chance to beat Jones, and he knows it. And he is likely going to get fucked up at 200.

It was a Perfect Storm... But DC didn't show up. I don't know the specifics of his injury. But if it was a reasonably preventable situation. He may as well off himself right now.

That opportunity is never coming around again.

He looked great but we all know he could've done waaaaay better. He hardly used his elbows/hands/knees etc

Your original post was so lacking I thought maybe there was more to your point that I wasn't getting. Either that or you're trying to tell me that Jones struggled at all against OSP. Jones was even nice enough to let him up off of his back a few times. Not to mention Bonnar, Vera, Bader, Glover and O'Brien are all roughly his size. How did those fights go?
