How did Bruce Willis go from earning $200 Millionish

Samuel Jackson is just a one trick pony. His time has come and gone since Pulp Fiction.

Still enjoy watching Brody and Cusack films even if it's garbage.

I liked Jackson a lot in Black Snake Moan and Django. He does plenty of pointless shit I have no interest in watching though.

Watching John Cusack movies now depresses the living fuck out of me. The projects are just pathetic. Occasionally he kind of gives a shit and does something okay like Adult World or that one with Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron, or that one about the Beach Boys. But those are still only decent, and the garbage he does on the washed up circuit with Bruce Willis, Jason Patric, Jonathan Schaech and all those guys is just sad. They're like scripts that Steven Seagal's agent rejected.

There was one where he was an undercover cop and he was literally dressed up like a cross between Sensei Seagal and Flavor Flav, and it was dead serious.

I showed Bruce Willis this thread and he said, "OMG, TS, you're right."

Yeah but those big budget movies stopped knocking on his door a while ago now

I don't get why he has to take shit roles and what will obviously be shit movies.

UNless of course he just loves getting paid to make movies and doesn't give a fuck how bad they are any more

He's become the Wings Hauser of the 2010's, and I love me some Wings Hauser
Death Wish was a relatively big-budget movie ($30m) and made some money back at the box office at least ($48m) besides whatever it made beyond theaters. Glass made A LOT of money at the box office ($240.8m) and was made even cheaper than Death Wish ($20m) so they made a lot of money off that one. I'm guessing he'll get better roles now as a result...

His gif became famous from Black Snake Moan. LOL

Cusack was excellent in The Paperboy where Matthew McConaughey plays the reporter. Nicole Kidman turned in a great performance. BTW it was filmed in my city and few friends worked as extras.

His last great performance was Unbreakable

He came out as a conservative and voiced his opinion on being a pro gun guy. He's practically been blacklisted in Hollywood.
That never stopped Gary Oldman and Jon Voight from still getting movie roles. The difference is that Willis wasn't as good of an actor as the guys I've mentioned

I imagine he has a flat fee of like 10-15 million, and he just shows up and cranks it out in like 1 week. No reshoots. No one is allowed to argue with him. Just does 1 take for each scene and dips out with the cash.

vs doing real movies and having the director ask you to do a re-take 50 times to nail it

Quoted for truth. Arguably, Marvel have shown us that the big actors don't mean all that much. Most of the MCU guys weren't household names before Marvel made them so. It's the franchise that matters now and actor pay really ought to take a dive. Tons of people could play Spiderman/Cap/Black Panther/Batman/Black widow/Wolverine etc. only guys that are hard to replace is RDJ and maybe Samuel L Jackson. Oh, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

I think Marvel are a bit in the middle personally, the old comic book style film was I'd agree always focused on the characters and that's why it was Superman, Batman and Spiderman that naturally dominated as the best known characters. More recently(Jackman's Wolverine was arguably an early example) though I think you have more of a merger between the characters appeal and the performers appeal, I mean Tony Stark in the MCU is VERY dependant on RDJ's persona to the degree replacing him would massively limit the characters appeal. That's how Marvel have taken what appeared to be second rate characters in terms of public appeal and turn them into mega draws IMHO, there bound up with RDJ, Evans, Helmsworth, Johansson, etc.

Its almost a modern version of the old studio system were these actors blockbuster careers are totally bound up with a certain franchise and studio. The performers still make a ton of money but Marvel have more control than was the case with big names in the past.

It happens to most of Hollywood's biggest stars, unfortunately. They get older and lose their appeal, or audiences just get tired of them, and they begin starring in films increasingly less and less relevant. Pacino, DeNiro, Schwarzenegger, etc. have all gotten this dose of reality as well.

its not that he isn't a good actor, its because he is a prick and not friendly, if you ever see him at boxing events he doesn't even talk with anyone just ignores them, when word gets out that you are not fan friendly people don't bother to watch your movies and if you give people are hard time.

I think he has acted so much that he doesn't care for it anymore and just does it for the money so he can live lavish, I heard he had a few failed business investments that he is making up for that is why he keeps making crappy movies.

Sylvester Stallone said Bruce changed and has gotten rotten and sour, and greedy thats why he had to nix him from expendables he started demanding more money and said when he was on set he never even tried just read his roles and went to his dressing room.

Its very sad to see Bruce like this, when acting has gone stale and you no longer love it you have to take a break to recharge, Bruce has never taken a break, he is the kinda guy who hates his job but just does it for money.

Guys like Oldman and Voight still love their job thats why they still get roles, Oldman always delivers and puts his all into his roles

Bruce has gone the way of Robert Deniro, just acting for the money and barely trying anymore

For one thing he's not a fantastic actor, not diverse. So his roles are limited. Plus he's getting old and that's just the cycle of things in all walks of life.

That is what I heard, he gets a flat fee and residuals, he negotiates a high percentage fee for sales that is why he does them, he does like 10 crappy straight to dvd movies a year making a good 5 to 10 million per flick and then some when the dvds sell over seas, he probably makes 50 million a year with little to no effort.

The reason he does them is because overseas they still love his movies.

Man Bruce really doesn't try at all I watched a couple of those B movies he did and he just says his lines with no energy its like you said one take lol while the actors around him are really putting their all into their roles.

The man fell off bad watch this look how horrible he is now just reading his lines fake emotion not even trying anymore he will dish out 10 of these type of flicks a year and they finish filming in two weeks cheap, quick and he gets a flat fee and the lionsshare of profit.

I doubt he makes 5-10 million per movie. And to add you think he makes 50 million a year? That's crazy considering his movies go straight to DVD.

If this is true he'd be worth more than a 180 million net worth.

He’s getting payed and only spends one or two days on set. Easy money for a guy in his 60s. Also if he has a hand in producing these movies he’ll be making a nice bit off dvd sales.

The thing is no one buys dvds anymore. DVD sales took a nose dive the past 10 years since streaming has become more popular

It's been known that he was a conservative since he was on Moonlighting which is one of the major reasons that Bruce and Cybill Shepherd would get in shouting matches on the set. So your poor old Hollywood is persecuting him because he is an out right winger doesn't work here.

Crazy that Hollywood is so anti gun, while almost every film and TV show features a shit ton of glamorized gunplay and shootouts.
