How crazy is it that the best MMA fighter in the world literally CAN'T fight in the UFC

Superheavyweight (265+ lbs) is it's own weight class, as designated by athletic commissions and the ABC, so this isn't a UFC fault by any stretch of the imagination. It is also an incredibly shallow and unpopular weight class that basically only ever moves public interest for "freak show" fights, so there's no incentive for them to sell it either.

But as had already been mentioned, any decent HW would beat Hall, and any uncapping of the weight limit could see other HW's come in with increased weight, even if they themselves aren't cutting to make 265. This isn't a one way street in favor of Hall

Ok sure, it's very reasonable to believe the top 2 HWs that are big guys with major power would beat a novice strongman....I don't disagree if the fights took place at this moment. But that's a separate argument than removing the HW limit changing everything, as evidenced by Bob Sapp. Of course, I will be the first to admit that an actual drug testing program, if it has any integrity and credibility whatsoever, changes everything as well.

Bob Sapp came in very early in MMA and still had moderate success. He lost to Big Nog and then lost to Fujita, he never even beat anyone good and that was Bob Sapp early in his career. Even in K1, despite beating Hoost he still lost to Cro Cop, Sefo, Remy and bunch of others. I think Sapp proves that size and strength doesn't get the job done.

You mentioned in the OP that Hall would beat all the others now. I don't see that happening.

Let me first be clear, by best MMA fighter in the world I do NOT mean the most skilled, I mean the person that would beat all other fighters, regardless of weight, gender, etc.

Eddie Hall just finished Pudzianowski in 30 seconds, proving that sheer size and strength can overcome decades of martial arts training. Due to an absolute ridiculous, farcical, arbitrary rule, Hall can't fight in the UFC because he's too big.....how in the fucking world can that be justified? It's basically discrimination against larger humans?

And I'm not being facetious, how can you ethically exclude larger humans from fighting at the highest weight class?!?!

Hall would be UFC champion within two years. Every single hour of martial arts training for him is like a month for a regular man. Just his one boxing match with Hafthor was enough to develop the ability to KO a veteran like Pudz in 30 seconds. Imagine what some wrestling and BJJ training will do when combined with those physical abilities.

I don't care who you are, even Jones or Aspinall, you're not stopping a takedown from an elite athlete than weigh 100 more lbs than you.

This absurd, literally exclusionary and bigoted weight cap must be lifted, so we can actually see who the best fighter in the world is. Until then, the UFC HW title will always have an asterisk and be more like some bizarre handicap or affirmative action version of the sport of MMA.

This. But it's fun to talk about.

I can't be bothered reading the whole thread, but has anyone pointed out to you yet that Hall has trained with Aspinall?
Aspinall smokes him just playing around. Hall is the first to admit this.

Hall trains all the time. There is plenty of footage of him getting smoked by lower level guys in sparring.

No shame in that at all, but he caught an aging Pudz who was never that good himself and lost everytime he fought a semi decent fighter.

If sparring was a real fight then Michael Jai White is champ of the world.

Who the fuck responded to this stupid shit and brought it back to the main page? Van whoever the fuck it was.

Eddie Hall says he has nothing for him and admits that. Micahel Jai White has put up highlight reels in sparring sessions to make him look good.

We saw Eddie in his fights. We have footage of them sparring in a small Octagon with kickboxing only and Hall is gassing in a pure striking affair. Hall starts in side control with a corss face and can't even last 30 secs.
What do you think is going to happen in a real MMA fight? Eddie Hall knows he won't win and has admitted as much.

Tom played with Eddie and almost KO'ed him during light sparring....

In all seriousness though sparring favors the more technical and/or faster fighter obviously, it's not like Eddie can go all out and try to gorilla KO Tom, or Rampage slam him in sparring, he would have to be a real unethical scumbag to do that.

Imagine sparring between Sapp and Hoost....Host would pick him apart, it would be a joke, but in an all out fight, Sapp won 2-0 with brutal finishes.

Yeah but Mirko made him cry like a baby. Being strong and bullrushing a 250-260 lb man with speed is more times than not going to be Hall napping. He could likely best some of the fat slobs in the division now though. HW is just awful

My younger sister broke a mans balls with a well placed kick.
Sack turned into a balloon and they had to remove one of his plums at the hospital.
Maybe she is the best MMA fighter in the world! ( but also that guy was my friend but I never really liked him!)

Super Heavy could be a fun weight class or it could be two fat guys gassing out in the first round (see: current Rizin HW GP)

There's a video that just came out of Eddie almost shitting himself (litterally) trying to run just 2km on a treadmill. He'd have a heart attack trying to do even three 5 minute rounds.

I'd like to see the HW limit removed. I don't think it could make things any worse.

Eddie himself says he doesn't want anyone ranked or legit, freak fights only.
