He was the honey badger of MMA, all that hate inside him added like 50 pounds of pure muscle.

He was a pitbull. Short but stocky and sturdy as fuck, extremely explosive, iron chin. Hes still one of the scariest HWs ever, manlet or no.

imagine Igor fighting today, with all the nutrition knowledge and new training technology, he might've made 170, none of these WW's could ever fuck with him.

He actually dropped to a lower weight division at the end of his career in Pride but by then he was fighting with chronic injuries (maybe shoulder & hands) & wasn't too successful. Plus the dude's got massive tree trunk legs so there's no way he'd get down to ww... Lhw is more realistic but hw was is niche due to speed & aggression

    Tell that to his face.
A WW would be too extreme, he might be able to make it, but always stated that felt better heavier, and in the MW Grand Prix was pretty shredded and a bit flat, but it would be a hell of a pocket MW.

Igor never bothered to get the best trainers etc, even back then. He trained with the same team at home, only traveling from time to time to Kiev for extra Sambo/Wrestling.

Dude is a unit and battle proven against actual men. Perhaps not a manlet but a concentrated man

Fearlessness is the most powerful weapon in a fight.
    Vovchanchyn was exactly that.

The same reason Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano, Pac Man, ECT.... Were successful.
Hight and reach don't help on the inside and smaller fighters usually have a speed advantage.

Because height isn't necessarily an important measurement in terms of how much muscle fits on a frame and in regards to how much strength a person is able to generate.
Typically, the circumference of the joints and the overall bone-thickness is - all else being equal - the factor which determines how much muscle a human can put on their frame.

Guys like Vovchanchyn, Volkanovski and others may not be very tall, but due to how they're built, they're able to get extremely strong for their height.

Being short did not diminish his ability to crush cans.

    He is Fedor 0.7 beta.
    PRIDE OG.
Today's fighters with his size would cut down all the way to 125.
