How badly would Golovkin have beaten Mayweather?

I think it would play out similarly to Floyd's fight with Canelo, which I thought was crazy going in due to youth/size and then was promptly reminded of Floyd's greatness in that bout. Floyd is hard to hit. Period. For anyone. No reason to think GGG is able to just land all over him at will, and chances are that Floyd can land on GGG pretty much at will, albeit scoring and not "finishing" shots. I could see Floyd easily outpointing GGG. 9-3, maybe.
Not saying it would happen, but that's a very plausible scenario, IMO.

He's basing it on bigger men being able to hurt smaller men, which has proven true throughout time in combat sports.
Floyd has fought bigger men. The current Mw champ, the former MW champ and a former MW title holder too.

Its stupid to think a guy who barely gets hit clean in his whole career suddenly gets battered around by the flavor of the week because he's 3 or 4 pounds heavier than some other guys he fought.

Floyd is too old now to beat a guy that cuts off the ring like Golovkin. Floyd's punches don't even land like they used to. At some point, size+skill is too much for even Mayweather to overcome.

Eh idk man, Floyd isn't invincible, we have seen people tag him and wobble him before and they weren't the punchers that ggg is. Floyd is human, he can be hurt and knocked out. He wouldn't have any firepower to keep ggg off him, he would walk right through it.

Golovkin stops Floyd by KO within 8.

Prime Floyd was as close to invincible as a boxer gets. Anyone saying Floyd gets stopped is just showing bias. The guy barely lost a round until he was close to 40.

So why do you think Floyd never made the fight? Off the top of my head not sure who the third mw champ you're talking about but Canelo and Cotto were fought at lighter weights and they are also really the 155 pound champs. I'm really interested to see how the WBC handles Canelo wanting to force GGG to weigh 155.

Why would he? They're not in the same weight class and Golovkin isn't a draw.

Oscar, Cotto and Canelo. All 3 were MW champs or title holders.

Maybe technically. Do you think they were legit at that weight? Not that Floyd was either but Canelo was the biggest at 154, Cotto and Oscar arguably peaked at 140-147.

Why would SRR fight Joey Maxim at 175, he wasn't in the same weight class. My point is that this isn't baseball and stats don't mean the same thing. The Maidana and Berto fights are almost meaningless. If he had at least beaten an unproven GGG it would be more impressive than most of the fights he's had since he came out of retirement.

Wasn't aware we were talking about Ray Robinson.

The Maidana and Berto fights aren't "meaningless." They just aren't his most impressive opponents. Both guys are former champions. Ray Robinson, since you brought him up, had his record padded with opponents a lot softer than Maidana.

200

Yeah, more than 49 fights worth of padding. When you have 200 fights over 30 years it's inevitable. Do Floyd's big fights even equal the 5 or 6 fights he had with LaMotta?

He didn't fight much at middle but I guess sexy and geale aren't bad wins, and no shame in losing to Alvarez.

At welter he fought what, 10 times? Lost a dubious one to Tony and got stomped by manny. Win over Mosley is nice.

I think for longevity he was best at welter, but he was top level at lww as well.
