niagareven said:I was in the store and I wanted to buy something to up my omega-3's, so I was looking at flaxseed oils. The one I bought has 6grams per serving. Is this too much to take with my softgels? I also eat salmon a few times a week. Should I cut the serving in half on the flaxseed oil?
Six grams per serving is amazing. I haven't looked at flax seed supplements, but that's a very high amount of omega-3 (are you sure about that number...and how many pills/powder per serving?). With most fish oil supplements the amount of omega-3 is measured in mg's.
I'm assuming you're fairly active, and I've heard it's safe to take between 5-10g a day. So if it realy is 6g a day, then just stick to that for now. Gradually increase your dosage (I don't really know if that'll even make a difference, but personally I would not start taking supplements at the upper spectrum of the recommended dosage).
