Throwback Hot Take: Belal vs. Leon II was entertaining

I’d be entertained if it was anyone but Bernard vs leon. I just can’t stand Belal. I don’t care for Leon either and believed him to be one of the weaker WW champs in recent memory.

I’d say Khabib or Islam would decimate either guy easily. Khabib might be the worst match up possible for Bernard bar none (save for much bigger guys at higher weights.)

Plus the side show of Dana turning pink;) Dana needs to lighten up , he is loaded and Belal has improved entertainment level beyond blanket. Plus Belal is old and not likely to last more than a year or so and he wants to defend this fall.

The backpacking was boring.

The rest of the fight was good.

3/10 as entertainment. It was high level fight, but it was way too much about positioning. They had 25 minutes and I am not sure if we can get 1 min highlights out of that.

Curious to see how people would rate Belal vs. Leon II from this past weekend on a scale of a 1-10 (10 being ELECTRIFINGLY ENTERTAINING)

I'd give it a solid 7.5:
- Big time upset - absolute domination by the 36 year old underdog
- The storyline leading up to the fight
- Those takedowns by Belal were a sight to behold, he ragdolled Leon
- Leon came on late in the fight to make things a lil bit more interesting

So yeah - 7.5 for me is justified

How does everyone else rate it? (All bias and hate aside)
Dana was tripping, I liked all the fights on the main card. Not one bored me…

it was a pretty good fight, I'd give it a 6.5. I was on the edge of my seat seeing Belal just toss Leon around. No complaints for me.
people forget some Adesanya fights for example, that were complete turds.

I thought it was a reasonable fight. I expected a complete and utter borefest. So it surpassed expectations.

Quantitative ratings suck, but 7/10.

Belal dominated an elite champion and made it look easy. It was a great performance.

It's not Belal's fault that Edwards couldn't hurt him.
Leon is not an elite fighter. He's above average, but definitely not elite.

Yeah it was entertaining for sure, very close and high-level fight and Belal brought his boxing

It was a snoozer. I give it a 3/10 being generous.

Yeah it was great, I have re-watched it 69 times already.

I will probably re-watch the fight every week for the rest of my life it was that good.

7 seems fair, i didn't like how easily it was to reverse him and how he couldn't finish at all

5/10, great takedowns but didn't do anything to try and finish the fight with them, belal was content to lay in position. Standup was ok, lot of pressure from Belal but not a lot of good strikes landed. Leon was very passive up to the 5th. Better than I expected but still boring. I don't really care about storylines, this is not wrestling.

True but it doesn't matter, he became champion, and no one can ever take that away from him, something many big names in WW could not do, including Wonderboy and Colby.

It was a very strange fight, Leon was in lala land, seemed bizarre. I feel like it really didn't tell me much. Some nice take downs by Belal but TDs with no sig GNP or subs behind them don't really do anything for me. Did not seem like the cream of the crop fighting for the crown.
Head spike definitely changed the fight
