Hot rods, dragsters, gassers, muscle cars and the like thread

I'm wondering what's going on with these classics after boomers are dying. Seems like all of the car meets I go to is younger people with modern cars. I went to Corvettes and coffee here a couple weeks ago and surprisingly it was mostly people 40 and younger, but driving newer Corvettes.. C6-C8. Only one C2 and nothing between.

I went to a huge cars and coffee this last weekend and 90 percent of the cars were modern (including lambos and Ferraris).

I guess they've been willing these cars to their kids and they just keep them in the garage because they don't care or the boomers are sticking to their own shows that I'm not going to

Cars and Coffee won’t fetch many Muscle Cars imo.. neither will ‘meets’. Too many people associate it with ‘take overs’ and dummy’s doing burnouts and donuts calling attention to the fuzz. Dudes don’t want their classics near that shit.

They tend to stick to their own shows that are seasonal and have been going for decades in some cases. There’s still a ton of shows out where I’m at for classics that get huge turnouts.

70 Chevelle is the quintessential muscle car to me

Big, heavy, distinct presence and a 454

I even like the facelift 72 model

My wife has a 70. 350 4spd with a blower. I've personally never been a big fan of them. They just look like big Mexican boats to me. Fun car though. If you're going to build a classic, build a Chevy. It's like half the price of a Mopar to build with way more options.

I'm actually looking for "The Judge" to work on as my project car. Tough to find at anywhere near a reasonable price but one day in next few years I will get one.

My all time favorite car
I'd like to get a '69 or '70 Charger or Roadrunner. A Chevelle would work too.

Saw a classic hotrod the other day. A local guy fixes them up very cool

I got a 1969 chevelle bodied 1968 so I pulled the 327 and M22 combo, gave it back to the original owner, filled in the nader lights and put a olds 455 with "F" heads in front of an automatic.

Crushed a lot of souls and owned a lot clowns in that car but it stranded me on I95 during a 1000 mile trip to move so I limped it to my dad's condo in Crescent Beach, took the hood and torker 455 intake off it and gave it to the wrecking yard where I rented the u-haul van.

20 years later, I went to that U-haul/junkyard walked in the door and the guy at the counter said "sold that one the same day you brought it in" before I even said a word.
Apparently one of his customers was very happy with it.

Chevys are rather ezy to supercharge and fix up :)

The Roadrunner might be more obtainable than the Chargers believe it or not. Those Chargers command huge dollar amounts now even in bad shape it’s wild. Look for a 318 car to try and save some money but even those aren’t ‘cheap’

The Charger prices are insane. Those in good running shape with good bodies can frequently fetch prices over 100k.

Yep, didn't even have to cut a hole in the hood either.

Mopar requires a completely custom or insanely expensive intake and an ugly hole in the hood, even with a small roots blower.

I guess you could go with a Paxton style blower but I'm just not a big fan of the look usually. Especially with the ugly carb hat that's required.

Bought my dream car over the weekend. It's a 2024 ZL1, last year of the the Camaro. Great deal that couldn't pass up!

Damn that shits nice. If I didn't buy a Vette, I would have bought a ZL1. Congrats dude. Is it an M7 or A8?

A10, the ZL1s have the 10spd automatic. I'm a life long manual guy but holy shit the A10 is fast as fuck lol. I'll miss rowing through the gears but I'm 43 years old and I've had a lot of fast cars in my life and I can say that the performance shifting mode in this thing is incredible. I absolutely love it. This is the only automatic I have owned since my first Camaro in 2003. I've had 3 SUVs that were automatics but they didn't make them in a manual (2 TBSS and a SRT8 Jeep).

If you are planning to top out that ZL-1, know that the car is capable of more speed than the front end bodywork can handle..............and the hood is too high which adds a bit of drag.
