Social Hospital Under Fire for Forcing Staff Support in Abortion

I would think most nurses realize abortions are in many cases medically needed and realize that may be part of the job. Since, it is a medical procedure.

We are talking about elective abortions. Try and keep up.

Yes I am aware its legally protected. That doesnt make it right.

I'll go so far as to say that she obviously doesnt really believe that abortion is murdering someone. If my boss brought in a baby and started crushing it I'd try to stop him. She is totally ok working for a baby killing organization, and coworkers who are mostly murderers? I doubt it

What are you talking about? She works at a general hospital, not planned parenthood. They would have multiple operating rooms running every day. This was an administrative fuck up.

Sounds like she is incapable of performing all the medical procedures offered at that hospital.

Which means she should go somewhere else.

That argument doesn’t apply here if it’s your legal right to refuse.

Maybe schedule and staff appropriately?

I can refuse things my boss says. I'm not a slave.

But I shouldnt be doing electric work If I have a moral objection to electric work.

What percentage of OR volume in a hospital do you think elective abortions make up? You’re either woefully ignorant or you’re just being a douchebag.

Also lol at a moral obligation. Gotta kill those babies!

Let's see the job description then. Is "assist during abortion procedures" on there? They're working at a general hospital. Not an abortion clinic.

There's many, many different types of nurses out there. And requiring every rn, cna, etc to help in killing what is essentially a premie baby to stay working as a nurse, I think you'd find a catastrophic national shortage of them.

There are many nurses in my family and friends. I know with their beliefs none have been required to assist an abortion.

If the job description states that a nurse must assist with all medical procedures conducted at the facility, and abortions are one of those procedures, they to do the job they are being paid for. They have the choice not to work there. Pretty simple.

Jehovah witness do not believe in blood transfusions. Should a nurse with those beliefs be exempt from performing that procedure? How about a Muslim nurse that shouldn’t touch men? Maybe a Hindu nurse can’t give someone a meal tray with beef?

Either take a job you can do or don’t take the job.

You cannot just refuse as a nurse
They’ll take your license for abandonment
You can quit at the end of your shift
So yeah having this dumped on you as a surprise is a little different

Good. Shouldnt be a nurse if you dont want to do the job.

Maybe. But I wouldnt be taking the job and then refusing to do it for moral reasons. I dont take jobs that I have moral objections to.
This isn’t the job though. This was something that she was never told she have to do, therefore not the job. Most hospitals don’t perform these electively.

Was she not aware which hospital she worked at? Probably should be drug tested if not
