Horror News & Discussion Redux

Cube is definitely an underrated film. I love the character of Worth. Definitely the most fleshed out. And the freeze frame on Angela at the end of Sleepaway always gives me some chills.
Worth was the slow dude with the tick right? Dunno if you've seen the sequels, don't want to spoil, but lets just say they divulge a little more on him

Worth was the guy that created the outer shell. I remember seeing one of the Cube sequels and being pretty disappointed.

Yeah sequels are pretty much never even close to the original, but Cube's 2 sequels were at least entertaining to me.

the third Cube film is about a guy who works on the Cube, and long story short the film ends revealing him to be the smart retard with a tick

I am thinking about watching The Intruder later today. Ever seen in Joseph Budden?

The Corman film? Na as much of a film aficionado as I am, i'll pass on movies from that time period unless they really interest me. Think i've only seen his Poe films from that time.

My bad, shouldn't have capitalized The. It's called Intruder. An 80's Scott Spiegel film about a killer in a grocery store overnight.

I've seen that, had it hyped up to me like crazy but I don't remember it being all that great, some decent kills though.

Never seen it, but I do love me some schlock slashers. Might have to check this out

Intruder was alright. Nothing to write home about, but it was a decent slasher film. Good twist. Nice kills, but a lot of filler in between.

Then I watched Zombi 3. Haven't seen it since I was in middle school. Some fun, gory zombie action. Enjoyable.

Now I'm on to re-watch City of the Living Dead. One of my favorite Fulci films.

Watched two horror films over past few days, Hunger and Vile. Hunger was complete and utter trash. Zero redeeming qualities. Vile was ok. Was expecting torture porn when I read the premise, but it wasn't. Solid film.

fright-rags is doing a 72 hour timed release of this Jason Edmiston Halloween design. It is available as a tee, baseball tee and hoodie.

I would order a size up to account for shrinking.

th

Thats some sweet artwork! Is there still a way to still purchase this shirt because its past the 72 hour timeframe?

Looks like James Rolfe is doing one last Monster Madness cuz hes too busy making shittier game reviews these days. I wont mind if Mike takes over but i do not believe he's a horror fan.

Last year, james really phoned it in...

Maybe if someone puts it on ebay.

Fright-rags is doing a Halloween collection in mid October so if you missed out on this one you will have other options to choose from.

Thanks for the info and heads up! Ill be on the lookout for what they have during October. I'd imagine there should be a good variety of items before halloween.

Decided to pick up Godzilla 1984 on bluray today. It's actually just the Japanese version which I've never seen before. No Raymond Burr, no english dubs which is fine with me.

1985 held some serious nostalgic value for me as it was my first introduction to Godzilla as a kid. I remember renting it over and over and watching this thinking it was the most awesome thing ever:

While not my favorite of the series, I do think it's one of the better ones. Looking forward to revisiting it in a new way.

Re-watched a bunch of films.

City of the Living Dead
- While everyone says that this is the weakest in the Gates of Hell trilogy, I have to disagree. It is atmospheric as hell and has two of the best death/gore scenes in a horror film. What Fulci botches with a coherant story, he more than makes up for it with a chilling, memorable film. Besides the weak ending, this is such a grand film about evil. 8 out of 10.

Messiah of Evil - This is such a unique film and I believe Fulci might have been influenced by this film. Once again, it focuses on evil. The town of Point Dune is a great setting. While some of the acting is indeed wooden, it is another brilliant atmospheric piece. It is chilling on how this town is just enclosed with evil. While some of the plot points are nonsensical due to cuts, I love it. Especially for the deaths of the characters of Laura and Toni. Very memorable. 7 out of 10.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch
- I will never understand the hate on this film. Yes, it does not have Michael Myers as the center point, but it is a damn good film. The idea that an evil coven is planning on killing mass amounts of children with Halloween masks is frightening. The score for the film is awesome and I'm a huge fan of Tom Atkins. While it is far from perfect, it is definitely a cult classic to enjoy. 7 out of 10.

Sad that this is it for Monster Madness.

I remember watching these when I was a middleschooler all they way to being out of school and chilling at night watching them.

James and the crew will probably come up with another Halloween themed series, they're too big of horror fans not too.
