The Crazies 2010

6.5/10

I saw this in theaters and didnt watch it again until last night. I didnt like it as much as the first time, but its still entertaining.

Much like a zombie movie, a small town's population starts to go into zombie esque trances, causing citizens to go nuts and kill anyone and everyone....except their own.

Thats where my disconnect is.. These people are going nuts but they can work together when needed. The first and 2nd Crazy that is seen is wonderful. I wished they found a way to keep it that way and employ a more chaotic, every bastard for himself.

There is some eerie imagery in this and nicely acted. but it does have jump scares, which i know some people hate.

Id still recommend to anyone that likes movies of outbreak.

Just watched The Forest. What a stupid piece of crap.

Here's my list of what I need to watch before Halloween. Tell me which ones should take priority to watch first.

holy shit, you havent seen Alien(s)? what in the fuck. Save those for the grand finale.

Sinster is great, one of my all time favorite horrors. genuinely creepy to me.
Conjuring 1 and 2 are very good.
The Witch is great, watch it before Sinister
Green room isnt scary at all but an alright movie.
It follows is extremely overrated and not scary
Ravenous is an awesome movie but again not necessarily scary.
The Visit is freaky definitely worth a watch.

Add Martyrs to your list

Sinister is a bit silly but the movie content is rather disturbing in parts. It really goes for the jump scares. Conjuring 2 is basically a rerun of Conjuring #1, but still well done and worth the watch. Alien/Aliens need no introduction. The Signal is little known but I enjoyed it and would recommend it if you're into the the end of the world infected/zombie type films. Ravenous is good if you like survival horror with a hint of black comedy, and the whole cannibalism thing. Dog Soldiers is pure gold, and The Loved Ones is pretty damn twisted and I loved it.

Add Martyrs to your list

Martyrs, Crimson Peak, Ginger snaps, and The Wailing have been added. I always wanted to watch Alien/Aliens but just never got around to it. This is coming from somebody who just saw The Shining for the first time 5 years ago. Some films are talked about so much that sometimes I don't feel like I neeed to see it.

I'll move a couple of those up the list for sure.

Top priorities should be Alien and Aliens by a country mile.

Next up, I'd probably have Ravenous (it's different).

If you've seen The Crazies, you've seen The Signal.

I hated the Visit. I also thought Suspiria is highly overrated - there's nothing notable about it except that Dario Argento lights the walls brightly with different colors, and people seemed to think that was great cinematography.

I would:D

Right now I'm watching a Youtuber I'm subscribed to named lampyman101 he did reviews on all the video nasties and section 3 films.

Definitely recommend.

This is the movie I was thinking of doing:

I've watched Lights Out, The Babadook and The Witch in the last few weeks. The Witch was my favorite.

Next is Darling.

I watch this movie about once a year. You're right about the first crazy being the best. I wish the film could have kept the ominous tone a little longer. Where the main characters didn't know the shit they're in but that probably would have just made the movie too long. I'm surprised there wasn't a sequel.

Do any real horror fans actually enjoy American Horror Story? I'm about halfway through season 1 and can't be more bored. I tried the premier of the new season last night, I guess I just don't get it. Jump scare after jump scare. The story line is just there to create more OMG moments with absolutely no substance at all to it. Its the adult version of pretty little liars

I enjoy it, but its more "popcorn fun" then actual "horror."

It shouldn't be looked at as horror. Their are some creepy bits, and sometimes disturbing, but its more plot/character driven (whether you will enjoy the plot/characters, is a different story).

Kill List, is also a very good recent horror. Even if its sorta more "suspense/violent" vs anything super-natural. A bit of occult smattering throughout.

Alright imo here..
Alien/aliens- needs no explanation for either

Gates of hell trilogy- fulci do it. Every horror connoisseur should watch fulci

Suspiria- the sets and score make it worth the while alone.

Cannibal Holocaust- I'd love this film to death if not for the actual animal cruelty that takes place

Poltergeist- I hope you're referring to the original. Hooper/ Spielberg!!

Ravenous- an awesome black comedy that gets extremely gory at parts

Alucarda- just seen this not too long ago and thought the concept was cool but all in all a little cheesy in execution

The Loved ones - I dug this. A very cool underrated gem

Dog Soldiers - cheesy as fuck but entertaining.

Green room- not sure if it's really horror, more a suspense movie I guess but it's really good. Especially if your into punk/metal which the score largely consists of

It follows - I loved it but it really seems to divide the audience into love/hate

Byzantium- a really cool and different take on vampire mythology. Really well done

Starry Eyes - the lead actress and her transformation own this film.

The rest of those I either thought were complete crap pretty much or nothing special at the least

it follows, byzantium, and Triangle are the best 3 on that list of relatively new horror

I watched the first episode and it was the dumbest shit I had seen in a long time so I never watched again.

You weren't a fan of The Final Girls?

I think thats one of the most overlooked horror comedies of the last few years. LOVE that film. I know its kind of divisive, mainly cause of the emotional parts though. But they worked for me.

Byzantium wanted so much to be an art film. Imagine how much better it would've been with Refn as director ;)

haven't seen FG yet but have it copied

I think it was just a slow film. Too many action sequences to want to be an art film. Great movie though
