Horror News & Discussion Redux

The Witch is supposed to be on Amazon Prime in September. I saw Deathgasm recently. I was really looking forward to it, but it kinda missed the mark for me. I'm a musician though, and just hearing a song played over people pretend to play something really badly just really bothers me. I would have rather listened and watched them play whatever they were playing.
Black Mirror is so damn amazing. Everyone with Netflix who hasn't watched it yet needs to asap

Black Mirror has some of the best story writing I have seen. Like tons of twists and turns, and the story just keeps gettiing better as it's happeneing. It's really good.

Watched Green Room and Hush recently. Both worth watching but Green Room was better. There's some sick jitz in it.

Yeah there is so much good about Black Mirror. That shit is just powerful. The 2nd episode is one of my favorite things i've ever watched, and if you classify the 90 min Jon Hamm episode as a 'movie' it would've easily been one of my favorites from that year and possibly all time.

I'm pumped its coming back in October, but skeptical since Charlie Brooker isn't writing/directing all episodes.

Also, Deathgasm was pretty good. Thought it would've been a stronger film if they made the main characters friendship stronger. Dude really hoodwinked his friend and hooked up with his girl lol

Just saw this:

Overall, this is a well done contribution to the genre. It doesn't really do anything that hasn't been done before, but it does it well. For me, though, maybe I'm getting old but this whole "Crazy cat and mouse game" theme is kinda wearing thin for me.

Also, the older I get and the more horror movies I watch make me realize how endings are the hardest thing to do in the genre. I think the spark of ideas that create horror tend to be the scenes of build up and mystery, i.e. the first 2/3rds of the movie. The climax and conclusion are regularly the biggest let downs for me with horror flicks and frequently I really enjoy the first half or so of some of the movies I end up disliking intently. Even shitty horror movies can have great mystery and build up.

Anyway, I'd recommend it to anyone that's a horror fan.

another one that you probably have not seen but is really good and original is Triangle. I would put that on top of the list with It Follows. Oh, and Byzantium.

Never heard of Triangle or Byzantium. Seen It Follows though, probably my favourite horror of the past 10 years.

I dunno why i didn't ask for recommendations in here sooner, i love horrors but it's brutal having to sift through all the shit.

Yeah, I'd say it follows is my favorite horror this decade along with Triangle and Byzantium. They are all kind of slow movies.

Green room was great. A fucking shame about Anton Yelchin. He did a great job in green room imo

He asked for 2010-present

Triangle is 2009.

Sorry Pix, gonna have to disqualify your suggestions for not being diligent

Byzantium is really legitimately underrated

I think so too. The beginning action scene I at the strip club I did not like and was like meh, but besides that it was real fucking good. Oh man, that movie brings a tear to my eye. The music is great too. That is a top 20 movie for me.

Oh shit I did not know about that. Wow that's sad.

Yeah man totally wrong place at the wrong time. Kid's future was looking pretty bright too. He did some very cool movies in very short period of time and I feel green room might've been a jumping point for him

I watched The Invitation last night. The flow was a little weird, it was slow, which I don't mind at all, but then it got slower and slower and then BANG. I liked it, not sure if I could watch it again though.
