Horror News & Discussion Redux

I just can't watch films like Human Centipede or Serbian film.

The "shock value" films.

It's not that I can't handle the ridiculous bullshit, it's just no point. I'm just gonna watch over an hour film with sick shit just to shock me? I'll pass.
I honestly find them to be worse than just watching real gore vids. Serbian Film has a bit of merit, deep down, but is still kinda repugnant. The Centipedes, and August Undergrounds, those are the ones I just don't care for.

I wouldn't say that.

At least I know it's fake and for entertainment. Whoever finds it entertaining...

I remember seeing a vid on youtube before it thankfully got taken down featuring 2 guys in a karate school fighting each other. One was the teacher and the other a mentally unstable guy just in their to show he had better skills. The mentally unstable guy was getting the better of the teacher by just goofing around throwing wild kicks and karate chops. After a while the mentally unstable guy just said he was done but the teacher had to press on because he got embarrassed and started beating the poor guy up until he was n the ground getting his head stomped in.

Point is there wasn't much blood in the video besides what was coming out of that poor guy's nose and that just got his head smashed by some fucking chump but I found it way more disturbing because it was real.

I don't wanna get into the whats and whys here, but for whatever reason, extreme fake stuff bothers me more.

I will say, that vid you are talking about did bother me, but kinda in the way a lot of the extreme fake stuff does. I felt really bad for that poor guy too.

Just saw Spring. Was pretty decent, love story about a guy who meets a girl who is actually like some eldritch horror, but he still loves her.

Dude, this movie was wild. A very strange twist on vampirism. The female lead is gorgeous. Really liked it.

Has anyone signed up for "Shudder"? They seem to gave a decent library.

Did you guys see Green Inferno? Care to tell everyone what you thought?

Just got done watching Creep. Really slow found footage but it's pretty effective.

I was just about to get cracking when I read this. That title had actually crossed my mind. I don't really remember the film itself, haven't seen it in some time.
Was a solid movie. Better than the average ghost story IMO. I did misremember a few things though.

I haven't seen a good horror film that's came out since Texas chainsaw remakes. Horror was always me and my wife's favorites but they've been so shitty lately we've givin up. Always enjoyed slasher movies like scream so if anyone has any suggestions I'll look them up.

Pass on the third one. It has a couple of scenes that are completely revolting.
Thnx 4 the warning, I won't see the 3rd one. Barely tolerated seeing the 2nd in the Centipede series. It's not my fave just to be shocked or break taboos. I truly like "well made films" but the 1st one pushed the boundaries for me as the 2nd one did as well, but was both repelled and compelled to watch these 2 movies.

Heard about the Serbian film another one I will pass. The music in the trailer sounded hypnotic but again comes across as just another taboo type shocker. Krampus legend has always intrigued me as the bad relative of St. Nick for naughty kids. The art work throughout the ages for Krampus is legendary. I am glad a movie was made for such a well deserved character.

I agree with this. I'm much more disturbed by real violence.
If I see footage of a streetfight or someone getting beaten up it makes me feel sick. Even at school I hated seeing fights even tho most other people seemed to love it.
Uncontrolled violence is what I don't like.
So in my opinion there is nothing at all wrong with enjoying violent/gory movies.
I think you need to have a look at yourself if you're the kind of person who gets into or enjoys watching street fights.

It Follows and the Evil Dead remake were a couple of new movies I enjoyed.

Anyone remember the film Scanners also I LOVED *Videodrome*.

Cronenberg is the shit

Dead Ringers is overshadowed in his body of work, but definitely worth checking out. The only thing creepier than Jeremy Irons is another Jeremy Irons
