Holly Holm

Holm won the belt, she lost the belt and now she gets a chance to regain the belt. ..... doesn't seem that excessive to me.

Oh and she's had a couple of shots at 145, but virtually every fight at 145 is a title fight in a division created solely to exploit Cyborg's popularity. It's prize fighting not the Olympics.

I am going to get all crazy and say Holly by head kick on a tired Nunes round 4 or 5. Mostly because I hope it happens but the analysis is realistic I think.
I think this is a distinct possibility. If Holly can outlast the Nunes punching barrage in rounds 1 to 3, wait for Nunes to tire, take the big shots and come through that, I think they might have game-planned to do exactly that : weather the storm, and out-cardio Nunes until Nunes slows down, and makes a mistake and then clobber Nunes with a left head-kick in Rd 4 or 5.

If Holly times a strong head-kick right, then ANYONE will go down.

She just needs to get thru the Nunes boxing attacks and Holly is better equipped than any 135lb-er to stand a reasonable chance of doing that.

One time the answer actually could be Conor.

Not sure if its the video or not but Holly looks ill

Because there are like 5 quality fighters that fight above 125

She went 5 rounds with Cyborg and won the first two rounds and almost stole the 5th
you should really rewatch that fight if that's your belief. the 48/47 cards were bizarre.

She’s the most marketable.

American as apple pie and carries herself like a professional.

Based on the judges criteria and the UFC scoring system, that's how it shook out. Cyborg definitely did more damage but the scoring system is what it is. Not sure what you are trying to dispute here.

I felt that Hendo beat Bisping in their second fight and yet Bisping (who almost got taken out on a stretcher) won that fight based on UFC scoring criteria.

weird juxtaposition. bisping won the fight due to him outstriking hendo (like cyborg did every round against holm) over the rounds. also, that was actually a close fight.

not disputing anything, either.

figured i'd throw this in.

in holms defense, she was very close to getting that belt in some decisions. and if not for the last second brain fart she woulda kept her belt from tate

Agree 100%. I guess we will see. Holly tends to follow instruction from her coaches well and they are very smart.

Not sure why anyone would be too upset with Holly getting this shot, it is one of the only interesting fights out there for Amanda.

Styles make fights, and Holly is a very good technical boxer, with range, and a decent gas-tank. Does she get more opportunities due to her appearance? Pretty hard to argue against that, but that is just a fact of life.

I think this could be a really close, entertaining fight. It is going to take place standing, and when it comes to a 5 round boxing match, Holly has a legit shot at winning on points, if she can score without getting tagged. Of the two fighters, Holly has real boxing pedigree, and she is not going to fight Amanda like Cyborg did. Her road to victory is a disciplined technical strategy. I don't usually get too excited about WMMA, but I like watching Holly fight, and I am legitimately looking forward to this one. Amanda is a beast, and I honestly don't think there is a better matchup for her out there than Holm.

Why does she keep getting title fights? I don’t get it. Has any male fighter gotten this many gifted title shots?
Not sure about strict title shots, but over failed contender attempts Weidman lost all recent 4 he got into, now he'll settle who's the contender in LHW.

Holly Holm is the pound for pound sexiest dancer in UFC history.
