I’ve played for a few hours so far and it feels like the game is clicking for me a lot better than it did the first time. I got lost, was getting my ass kicked, and ultimately got sidetracked with other games so I never finished it.

This time though I’m making huge amounts of progress every time I play. Just beat the three Mantis bosses and made it through an enormous spider nest which was surprisingly creepy. All the things I loved about the game my first time playing are there but I’m having a much better time this go around.

I’m being reminded of Bloodborne a bit in the game play. It rewards aggression. The only way you’re going to pull yourself out of danger is if you’re calculated and aggressive with your attacks.

Still making steady progress each time I play. I know I haven’t passed my previous play through in progress but getting there.

Wrapped up the main game at 71% complete and a little over 21 hours. Hollow Knight was a bit of a pushover, I thought. Took me two attempts, one of the easier bosses out there.

I think what put this game over the top for me was ultimately the exploration, I absolutely love how insanely huge the map is but also how interconnected it is, and the combat which is tight and polished with room to customize how you want to play through charms. It’s charming, funny, creepy, ethereal, so many adjectives can describe but it but ultimately it’s just a great game.

What should I do next? I have the Voidheart edition but from understanding in just exploring I’ve already experienced some of the DLC.

He's easy by design and because of the lore.

You might have finished the game, but youre not really 'done'. You murked through it though, with a great completion rate.

Look at a complete map, you need complete the Kingsoul to get the good ending, which leads to another 2 endings. Trust me, its a journey that will add atleast another few hours, I suggest doing the Grimm DLC and the Pantheons, try to complete the map, you may have missed massive portions aswell. The map is way bigger than you think.

I know youre good at these tougher games so Id say this would add atleast another 25 hours to your game. Im 55h in and at a 104% completion, 112% + Pantheons is full completion.

Yeah I figured as much with 30% away from completion lol. Looking a full map though I’m not seeing any major areas I haven’t uncovered. It seems like I’m mostly missing items (still have 14 charms to find, health/soul upgrades, and a lot of grubs).

Still have the itch to explore and take on some new challenges, don’t feel close to burning out yet.

Nice, I bet youre gonna do all the challenges and Pantheons, plus White Palace before I finish just the Path of Pain.

Dont worry, dont google those things if you dont know them.

Pantheons sounds like... he's going to get his shit pushed in... hard... no lube...

Tbf, Diz seems to smash through tough bosses. Goddamn it, Im not at that type of shit. Takes me time.
This. Knight's encounter with the HK was really no different than Gwyn having been parriable, to analogise. cc: @Dizzy
Interesting, if I don’t have a Vaati to guide me through cryptic lore I’m pretty lost lol.
Val is correct. Too bad HK community hasnt got a Vaati level content creator interms of the lore. The lore is really rich, and leaves room for interpretation and your own imagination.

I think Mossbag has a decent video on the lore, but it couldve been cut down by an 45 minutes, and had less rambly or meme-y bits.

It’s been hit and miss for me regarding bosses. I really struggled at times in mid game but late game I was blazing through most things. I started the Colesseum of Fools, got through the first one fine, died in the second one and called it a night. Doesn’t seem like these are close to the difficulty you’re talking about though.

Not gonna lie the first two are real easy. Third one is too, except it as this section in the middle that requires some bullshit with the spikes. Once you get passed that, I assume its easy.

None of the bosses seem too difficult during the main game, except Lost Kin and the Traitor Lord. I think its gonna be the Pantheons that are difficult, since theyre boss rushes. So the later pantheons are gonna be fucked. Thats the true test in terms of bosses. The hardest part in this game for me so far is Path of Pain and the White Palace. I hope I can do PoP today.

My favourite bosses are the true final boss, and NKG, since I had to study and prep when fighting them. You'll be fine, I know P5, P4 and P3 are gonna be fucked for me, and itll take some time since Im playing the game along with other games now.

Who spent 2 hours or maybe 3 with no progress on Path of Pain? This guy.

Was nearly at the first check point 2 times, goddamn it. Ill finish you PoP, Im coming soon.

I beat the main game at 72% yesterday. The HK was pretty easy, but some bosses are extremely difficult. Failed Champion being one of them. I still haven’t gone back for him. Accidentally started a DLC I think by shooting a spirit at a wall to kill two flying bugs and then it opened the hive portal. Still in love with the game after 55 hours. I tend to leave my games on for some reason so I’m sure it runs the clock up.

I wasn’t aware of Failed Champion. I know what I’m doing when I pick it up tonight.

Congrats man, you still have so much content left. The hardest part for me are some of the insane Platforming challenges. Im loving making no progress for hours but that 5 seconds of relief is gonna be worth it.

Trust me, a buunch of bosses are hidden. Its insane. Good luck.

Alright, took about 10 tries but I got Failed Champion. Found sticking close to him and utilizing my dash worked the best.

Looking for grubs, I actually did discover a new area. The Hive, which also came with a nice charm at the end.

Love that I can still uncover stuff like that just searching for collectibles.

The common misconception (and understandbly so) is that the Hollow Knight is too easy for an end boss... but that isn't the end boss, when you fight it again you should get help from Hornet towards the end of the fight and instead of killing it you hit it with the dream nail, thus starting the REAL end boss fight.

Oh and just in case you want to know, there's a brand new boss at the end of pantheon 4 that isn't in the main game, and in pantheon 5 you have to beat every boss in the game with a rest point after every 5 bosses, and some of the bosses are slightly different, like Markoth not having a floor, or Mantis Lords fighting you all at the same time instead of 1 then 2.
