I've been training Muay Thai for 8 months now and love it. Over those 8 months I've got into way better shape, more flexible, stronger, and my technique has greatly improved. What hasn't changed, though, is my hip flexor continues to be a very weak point for me. Constantly in pain at the hip when doing flutters, bicycles, leg raises (all ab exercises), kicks on the pads, knees, everything. How do I get my hip flexor caught up with the rest of my muscles? My legs are pretty thick and I believe that they may be too heavy for my hip flexor which may have never been trained. Help :)

Load with weights, specific to goals, and flex the hip. The same as training other tissue.

I think the reason why there is such a lack of emphasis on training hip flexion is because people tend to think tight = don't need to be trained.

I think it would be safe to say that the majority of the population have WEAK and TIGHT hip flexors.
