are you really congratulating her for talking out of both sides of her mouth?
She hasn't. Just like Obama, she has never advocated for anything approaching open borders. Obama secured the borders more than any president in US history before him, brought cross-border migration to negative levels, and brought border removals to all-time highs. Clinton, during her time in the legislature, was more conservative on immigration than the average Democrat and on multiple occasions advocated for border fortification. But she's a smart person, so she didn't advocate for something as monumentally stupid and impossibly wasteful as a goddamn wall. She also expressed basic empathy with immigrants and refugees, which reflects the mindset of her base.
The idea that merely supporting path to citizenship -- something that like 75% of Americans support -- makes one a supporter of "open borders" is a great example of how Republicans obfuscate issues to grind government to a halt and then use its stagnation as a reason to sell it to the highest bidder.
