Anyhow, I absolutely love Jiri, as many do, but it's not looking good for our boy. Jiri needed a miracle to beat Glover and Glover needed a miracle to survive against Hill.

We all know Jiri has a fascination with getting hit to prove his toughness, or for some other incomprehensible reason, but I'm not sure playing that game with Hill is advisable. Jiri lives and fights on some kind of spiritual stratosphere that only Luke Samurai Rockhold could understand.

While Jiri's setting up his magical takeover that leads to hands down and chin up, I think Hill cracks him with basic backyard power and superior athleticism.

Not sure Jiri will ever get that belt back, boys.

I got Hill he showed great IQ in being able to stick and move against Glover but also made great adjustments to Glover's defence and was able to chip away without allowing Glover to brawl. Hill did get overzealous and swing massive poorly set up shots occasionally but whenever he committed to his jab he had Glover lost.

I do not want to discredit Hill at all tonight. His boxing has made huge improvements. But Glovers takedown looked weak and lacking drive this fight. Glovers never been a spring chicken but this is probably the worst form he's been in as of late. That being said both guys can sleep each other. Jiri tends to do very well when things heat up and get under fire. Its a good one but I think I give it to Jiri.

Jiri does seem to excel under fire.

Odd man, but beautifully odd.

Antithesis of say, Hot Balls Lewis.

Hot balls will curl up, intelligently, and avoid CTE.

Jiri wants to fight CTE.

For me it's going to depend on how much Jiri returns to his old form or not. If his injury is so bad he never looks the same it'll be a hard call.

Jiri by better chin, his pressure will eventually make Hill gas, also Hills habit of moving strait back with chin up and hands down will get him KO’d against a competent striker of like stature.

I feel like Jiri will have an easier time with Hill than Glover. Of course, Jiri made his fight with Glover WAY harder than it had to be. But I feel Hill plays right into Jiri's strengths.

Hill should. He had better fundamentals and better fight IQ. Plus good defense all around

Jiri had shit defense. Poor fight IQ. And questionable fundamentals

People are too impressed by spinning shit. Hill is clearly the better fighter everywhere except for power
Hill has good defense!? His chin was straight in the air and was getting clocked by a 43 year grappler when Hill was still fresh. Also was wide open to calf kicks all day.

I'll give it to Hill. He performed much better against Glover.

Jiri's other wins in the UFC haven't really aged well. I think Hill could finish the Reyes and Volkan that Jiri fight just as easily as Jiri did, if not easier.

I have actually long suspected that Hill is a disproportionately big threat to Jiri just due to the stylistic match-up. On the come-up, there were two holes in Jamahal's game: he was susceptible to low kicks and his defensive grappling was suspect (i.e. he was prone to getting taken down and held down and had a bad lapse in judgement on the mat against Craig). To my immense surprise, he seems to have worked dutifully on the latter. Maybe Glover's age and wear & tear played a big role in that, but still. Just a few months ago Jamahal was getting ragdolled by a shot, past-prime kickboxer with no knees in Thiago Santos. Then he came into this title fight on relatively short notice with a noticeable gut and was able to stuff almost all the takedowns from one of the division's most dangerous grapplers while also escaping bad positions on the ground. That's huge.

But I digress. Getting back to my main point... low kicks and offensive grappling? Jiri doesn't really do either one. "What do you mean Jiri doesn't throw leg kicks? He's a Muay Thai champion!" you might say. Yes, he is, but his style of MT is anything but conventional. The man has landed three low kicks during his entire UFC tenure and none of them have exactly been heavy. They're simply not a hallmark of his game compared to his hands, elbows, etc. To his credit, he is 1 for 1 in TDs in the promotion, having shot on Reyes after getting clipped, but I have faith in Hill to stop any attempt by the Samurai to flip the script if it comes to that given what he showed against Glover.

Jiri isn't much less hittable than Teixeira -- especially against guys with good hands -- and I think someone with Jamahal's crisp boxing, great hand speed, and accuracy would really be able to make him pay for his reckless style. I don't know if his chin would hold up. Sure, maybe Jiri walks him down and makes him crumble under the onslaught as he has to others, but so far Jamahal has looked very composed and durable under fire. I could absolutely see him tagging Jiri up and TKO'ing him late, especially since we don't know what Prochazka will look like upon his return.

I didn't think Hill would get in a position to fight Jiri in the first place because I thought he wouldn't get over the hump of guys like Glover/Jan/Rakic or maybe even Smith on the latter's best day but now that he's here I can absolutely see him pulling it off.

This is the fight isn't it? The one we wanna see. Hill really surprised and impressed me but I think Jiri has more stopping power.

If either Volkan, Reyes or Glover had Hills fight IQ Jiri would not win a single fight.
They l had him wobbled to an inch of life and made idiotic decisions right after.

Hill had Glover beaten to a pulp and was staying composed but brutal. Kept distance, didn't brawl stupidly, didn't go for take downs.
