Hernandez and Khamzat

After seeing his last fight and him rolling all over the ground like a spazz for 5 rounds Brendan Allen, losing position over and over, I have zero doubt that Khamzat would beat the absolute fuck out of him lol
That's really stupid...Fluffy fights by making guys do big movements. He was "rolling like a spazz" because its forcing Allen to fight a fight he can't win.

You could just as easily say after I saw Khazmat fade in later rounds that Fluffy would beat the absolute fuck out of him. And Fluffy literally beats people down, brutalizes them and breaks them - consistently.

I have been say Hernandez is up there with Khamzat for a while now, i don't buy the Caio hype train, he is not that good.

I think Caio would beat dolidze too. It doesn't tell us much about how they both do against Khamzat. I'll take the guy who has trained several times with khamzat and is confident against his grappling in Caio. But like I said, Fluffy is a tough fight too.

No it’s not stupid, I understand what I’m watching. If you’re saying part of Fluffys gameplan is to lose positions on the ground on purpose and end up on his back as a way to beat his opponents, then yes, Khamzat is gonna annihilate him lol

That said...Brendan Allen isn't some scrub grappler. He's a pretty good scrambler. Choked out Muniz and Craig, two grappling specialists. He's not Khamzat obviously--don't misunderstand what I'm saying. But losing positions to Allen isn't THAT egregious. And (and yes, fighters always say they're injured but Fluffy isn't an excuse guy that ducks fights etc--he accepts every fight and shows up and fights his ass off) last night Fluffy said he had torn rib cartilage going into the Allen fight. I did that once a long time ago and it's hard to breathe just sitting around. Much less in a cage fight.

One thing I pointed out about Fluffy going forward is that he can continue to accept every fight offered like he has been (he literally said he'd take out every motherfucker ranked ahead of him on his way to the belt if he had to) but he's gotta demand 5 round fights. If they're gonna do him dirty and make him win 2 or 3 more on the way to a TS, he's gotta say "Fine, but we headline fight night cards. No 3 rounders on a ppv." He and Merab have a massive edge in 5 round fights that is really snipped off in 3 rounders.

Allen is a nice sub grappler. Khamzat has basically Olympic level wrestling, and caucus wrestling to boot. Position is everything with that style. Fluffy will be stuck on his back eating shots. MMA hasn’t caught up to it yet, and I don’t bet against the caucus wrestler unless they’re punch happy (see Aliskerov vs. Bobby)

IMO what separates guys like Khamzat and Islam (Khabib previously) is how well rounded their grappling game is. Wrestling base (elite) but they become world class level submission guys too. Technically not bjj, but many of the same principles. People never understood how good Khabib was off his back (because he was so rarely there) but watch his fight with Trujillo and you see how freaking good his guard is and how he attacks off his back. Not sure if Islam and Khamzat have that or not...but my guess is they are pretty damn good on the rare occasions they end up on their back.

I really think Hernandez is underappreciated by the fanbase and the UFC. 8 in a row, 6 finishes and he absolutely beat the shit out of Dolidze and Perriera. Allen is a very good win too.

Hope he gets a #1 contender fight next or a chance to take out one of the former champs in the division.

Recency bias on Sherdog is hilarious.

Khamzat probably murders Fluffy.

Fluffy vs Strickland, Caio or Whittaker would be interesting though

After last night I want to see Borz vs Fluffy on principle because it should be a fun fight.

But there is a good chance it's not that even and looks like Islam vs Moicano, even ending in a darce.

I specifically made this topic prior to this fight, so it wasn’t recency bias. Fluffy has a lot to do still to prove he’s deserving of Khamzat hype.

That said Khamzat has a lot to do to prove he’s worthy of his hype. Honestly before his win over Whittaker he didn’t look that impressive. Gilbert burns gave him all he could handle in a top 5 and Usman looked like he would have beat him clearly in a 5 round fight (though a close fight with Usman who had just lost his title isn’t terrible).

After my post Fluffy lived up to his side of things (a much lower bar to be sure), now we’re going to see if Khamzat is worthy of his hype this weekend, otherwise we may never see them fight.

There is. But it’s also a fight that will likely look that way regardless. If Khamzat wins it will look like Fluffy never stood a chance If fluffy wins at least you are guaranteed to be able to point to successes early, but by the end of the fight most people will just remember 3 rounds of Fluffy domination with Khamzat taping to a submission that shouldn’t even submit a white belt.

I agree to a degree

I think Caio might be, But hernandez and DDP aren't easy fights for Khamzat either. RDR would be a tough fight for Khamzat, too.
Back when Khamzat first was coming to MW, I thought RoboCop would be essentially a more powerful Burns and be his worst matchup. But RDR is a good substitute.

Although if Khamzat's cardio is as shit as everyone talks about on sherdog, then RoboCop is still a nightmare matchup.

very durable and just cant be rocked.
