DC says he respects Stipe as a great champion, but he believes that Cain Velasquez is the greatest MMA heavyweight in the world.

He believes ten years of hard sparring in the trenches with Cain will have him battle conditioned to be ready for what Miocic brings.

Injuries / inactivity aside, does he have a point?

Cain was an absolute beast when he was actively fighting. Better than Stipe though?

Time-Stamped:

10 years of hard sparring in the trenches with Cain prolli just degraded his chin and gave him more brain damage.

those 10 years didn't help him beat jones so i don't see how it helps him beat stipe.

I've always believed that Cain at his peak without injuries was unbeatable.

I'd say Cain at his best handles Stipe easily.

Two problems there.

Cain hasn't been at his best in a long time.

DC is not Cain...

Just because he spars with Cain doesn't mean he can beat Stipe.

Plus DC is 40...

Thats a factor to believe on himself. Thats pretty good stuff right there. Iron sharpens Iron.

Best Fedor vs best Cain and we all die happy.

Cormier will out work and out wrestle stipe imo. He will win this fight and a lot of people will be shocked.

Don't think so. He was very good, but not unbeatable.

Different skill-sets though.

Jones literally throws every strike in the book - Tons of different kicks, knees, elbows, etc...

Stipe is primarily a Wrestle-boxer, albeit a great one.

DC is pretty much the same, but with a little more emphasis on the wrestling end.

It makes for a pretty intriguing skill-for-skill match-up imo.

DC got the gas tank most HWs don’t... I think he’s gotta just wear him down dirty box and get the decision... I’m interested to see if his gameplan going to be to try to get it to the ground or keep it standing with Stipe

That would be an awesome fight. Still think Cain takes it but I would pay to see that..

Too bad Fedor never joined the UFC. Imagine him vs. Randy Couture or him vs. Brock Lesnar? Would have been fun to watch.

DC is cool , but he is delusional with such assumptions .
Im affraid he will need to go to sleep during the fight.

Stipe has a great gastank as well. Don't be confused here, he won't be fighting a 265 pound muscle monster

I think Stipe will win, but I'm rooting for Cormier and if he pulls it off it'll be one of the biggest wins in UFC history.

Cain is a great HW but he hasnt done nearly enough to be considered the best HW. Stipe is doing now what Cain couldve been doing years ago. Injuries plagued cains career and because of that the majority of his run and reign as champion circles around two opponents. The sample size just isnt there. Unless he has a crazy comeback, cain talks as GOAT HW are only speculation.

DC will UD Stipe.
