That doesn't even look like Penn.
Almost a year later and I still don't think anyone knows what the fuck BJ was doing in that fight...
Seriously! What the hell was BJ doing that night?

Gotta say, both guys were very high level at that time, but even so, those have to be among the 2 worst "fights" I've ever seen.
Edgar was winning based on everything I hate about the Unified Rules, the cage, and the judging.
Getting rid of the cage and using a Ring or square cage would be awesome, or even using that smaller cage from the WEC. I really miss that small WEC cage.
I think you're somewhat confused, that gif is from their third fight.
+TS's logic is obviously flawed, but...
dominant run as lw champ
2 division champ
beat 2nd best ww of all time in his prime
plenty of big names on his win list
size of small lw, held his own against GSP, Fitch, and Machida
lol a young Machida just starting out his career and yet to fight outside of Japan except for once in Brazil. Oh and a counter puncher at that. And BJ was already the UFC Champ. BJ fans have milked this fight to embarrassing heights. Its not like he even won! What Bendo did in his last fight was way more impressive.

4 years to blackbelt in BJJ and won the prestigious Mundial championship 3 weeks later.
GOAT[/QUOTE]
correction: Had rich family thus could afford to train full time with top instructors and won mundials when the competition level was a lot weaker than it is now.
Does that mean Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie, and Buchecha will not go down to BJJ history book as some of the greatest BJJ players at all time because BJJ in 2030 (15 years from now) has better competition?correction: Had rich family thus could afford to train full time with top instructors and won mundials when the competition level was a lot weaker than it is now.

I train at a real good competition team AOJ/ATOS where we have at least a dozen guys who train full time. Yet, none of them get blackbelt in 4 years let alone win anything at blackbelt.
Also, you need to read BJ Penn's autobiography. The guys who were winning the Mundial in BJ's era were training full time just like BJ.

GOAT
Hey bro, can you just confirm that you train with the Mendes brothers? You don't mention it enough for me to be sure.
What the hell does that have to do with MMA?
BJ is probably the LW GOAT for now but there is no legit argument that he is MMAs GOAT
