Herb Dean is the worst referee

I didn't research clips of Herb Dean late stoppages on purpose but, when he turns out to be such a big fraud I have my doubts about John McCarthy's credentials too and I will likely do more research on him soon

In the Conor/Khabib fight it's well known he 'missed' a lot of things in Conor's behavior. Then you can take a fight like Askren/Lawler where Herb 'missed' the fact that Robbie wasn't out. They were pushing Askren at that time. You say Herb is really bad but I'm going with Herb is a really good employee. Dana calls him the "Gold Standard" of referees. If Dana says it, it must be true.
 
Fax. Have always thought this. Dunno why he gets praise as a 'legend', probably just because he's the most known.

Every worst decision I've seen has been from him.

Also back in the day he was def 'in Conor's corner', if you look back at a lot of them McGregor wins on the rise... amount of them fights which were stopped soon as the guy was rocked or covered for a second; they were obviously tryna build a star and were keen for him to win lol.
 
There are so many terrible referees it’s hard to say one is definitively the champion at fucking up

The bald guy with the beard, the mini brock, the black skinny guy and the well known one that had beef with Conor seemed to be decent refs.
 
I've been saying

Dean is gonna allow the first death in the octagon. He's authored a ton of late stoppages and has been coasting off making one really good call when Mir broke Tim Sylvia's arm. He hasn't been good for years, maybe a decade+ tbh
 
Not even close to the worst, Mark Smith and Marc Goddard are both competing with each other for who can stop the fights the earliest and get away with it. Fighter took one solid punch, STOP THE FIGHT! Then they get dozens of articles and thousands of internet posts about their controversial stoppages, great way to get their name in the news. I reckon Herb Dean and Big Dan Mirgliotta are probably the two best refs still operating in MMA.
 
i'd put Herb Dean as the most overrated considering he is pumped so hard by Rogan and Dana, and pretty much no other referee gets pumped at all.
