Media Henry Cejudo: "Colby Covington is your next champ"

10:29

Triple Clown waffling. People still underestimating Leon, that's crazy.

Leon is decent but no one is scared of him. He's a decision fighter. A great fighter but decision fighter none the less.

I can't handle Colby with the title. I'm picking Leon to win, but my psyche can't handle Colby as a champ.
We are gonna see a lot of people having mental breakdowns and crying in their safe place in 2024.

I can’t friggin’ wait!!

Colby is a tough fight Leon if he comes in like Usman did in Usman vs Edwards 2. He certainly has the skills to execute that game plan and it was working all night agianst Leon.

But Colby is also 35 now. That's where a lot of guys start to go south.

Add to that, that Leon's TDD looked fantastic on Saturday and he seems to have an answer for guys plodding forward taking head shots. I think 49 minutes with Usman may be a proof of concept for beating Colby.

This is definitely a winnable fight for Colby, but I'm leaning more towards Edwards dictating where the fight goes.

Edwards blew me away with his TDD against Usman. While the experience against Usman was definitely a factor in his ability to defend takedowns, I think it still proves that he isn't a chump when it comes to wrestling.

I say Edwards picks Colby apart and stops him late in the fight. Oddly enough though, this is Colby's easiest path to the title, imo. I can't imagine him doing well against Shavkat or Khamzat should either get the belt.

If I was betting, probably Leon. Slightly faster, slightly younger, more power, and a few less wars. Grappling looks to be good enough to keep Colby at bay.

Why is this manlet doing everything and anything instead of fighting? Commentating, coaching , pod casting.

STFU and fight someone already!

colby 50 - 45

he has the speed, cardio and pressure heavy style that will have leon backing into the cage all night.

i also think colby uses his wrestling better than usman in the cage.

usman got a couple k.o's and forgot about wrestling. he looked slow and stuck int the mud in his last fight.

i could be wrong, but that's the way i see it going down.

Most people don’t believe in strikers as champions. People kept saying Anderson would lose via wrestle fuck but instead his reign ended by getting KOd on the feet and then all his subsequent losses besides the DC one were to strikers. Yes, Weidman is a wrestler and was GNP anderson but still he got the job done on the feet and ultimately both fights ended there.

And then they say “see told you” despite racking up wins against other wrestlers

Silva was a very complete fighter, I’ve never ever heard anyone worth a shit say otherwise

Probably, but Colby rushes in with his chin in the air and his hands down, both RDA and Jorge were able to catch him...
If Leon comes in SUPER conditioned, I'm not too worried for him vs Colby. He was able to keep up with Usman this time, prevented Usman's TDs, GOT UP FROM UNDER USMAN and stood the fuck up. Beat him without the head kick.

Colby can't hurt Leon on the feet as much as Usman. His TDs aren't any more effective than Usman's, and he's even more hittable. I'm not worried for Leon IF he comes in great cardio condition like on Sat.

It's one thing to revise history but starting your point with "It's funny to me," is just sad. We can all tell you are actually putting in the effort to claim these bullshit.

No. Leon was not considered THE top contender. For the last four years, Leon was either overlooked or the subject of ridicule. He was ridiculed for being the victim of Masvidal's "three piece and a soda." He was ridiculed for how his fight with Belal ended. He was ridiculed for getting rocked by Nate Diaz. People completely overlooked him and his win streak in favour of Colby because of how dominant (and boring) Usman was in their first fight.

Let me give you an advice, speaking in a condescending tone will not magically make your bullshit narrative stick. You can refute my points all you want by bringing up how Edwards just beat Usman. Only thing it'll prove is that your reading comprehension is shit.

That’s a pretty hysterical response from someone whom I did not address directly and did not know existed. Have some chamomile tea and come back when you are less triggered.

I don’t see how Leon wins this. Stylistically this is just a very bad match up for him. Colby is a better pressure fighter then Usman and I don’t care what anyone says, Leon was gassed out badly in the final round against Usman…constantly looking at the clock non stop. Blame the altitude in the previous fight but what was the excuse the second time around? Leon doesn’t let his hands go enough and that pressure style of Colby is going to frustrate him.

I can see Colby winning a 50-45 decision. Of course this is all predicated on the fact that Colby is his regular self and that age hasn’t hit him.

If I’m Leon I stay away from this fight and just hold off the bigger, safer fight against Jorge.
