Tried to block it. You wouldn't block a head kick ?he got knocked out because he tried to block it. and it's his job not to be surprised by a kick.
Setting up is legit. Just don't say never. Never throw un set up kicks. Totally disagree. Throw punches to hide them. All depends just practice and then you can create and bend or even break rules. You try to time and be less predictable. Sometimes even the obvious path works. Exmpl brawling and pressuring.I think this “rule” is responsible by the UFC commentators, especially Brian Stann. I remember him constantly saying you have to set up your leg kicks, and naked leg kicks are bad.
It’s both true and not true. Just like just shooting takedowns vs setting them up
no I don't train to block kicks. It happens reflexively but it's the least effective defense against a kick. For a MMA fighter it's worth significant time drilling to overcome that tendency.Tried to block it. You wouldn't block a head kick ?
whatever works works. It’s both true and not true. Just like just shooting takedowns vs setting them up
And it's the other guys job to suprise him.he got knocked out because he tried to block it. and it's his job not to be surprised by a kick.
So how do you defend high kicks ?no I don't train to block kicks. It happens reflexively but it's the least effective defense against a kick. For a MMA fighter it's worth significant time drilling to overcome that tendency.

cut it short if possible by attacking instantlySo how do you defend high kicks ?
Dude you got no clue what you chatting about. Where do you train ? At a fitness gym with a bag next to the weights ? Backyard bag hanging ?cut it short if possible by attacking instantly
I think you and TS made up that you traincut it short if possible by attacking instantly
comfortable? he was feinting from a fear of really engaging. kick was not remotely perfect either but the incorrect reaction made it work.He needed to get the power off the kick absorbed on the middle of his foream and move his head and feet a little away from it. It was fast and powerful he didn't anticipate it on time. Also nice height, top of the head. He wasn't scared enough, too comfortable and the perfect kick came fast.
He tried but didn't succeed. I mean you sugested he should have thrown a cross as reactioncomfortable? he was feinting from a fear of really engaging. kick was not remotely perfect either but the incorrect reaction made it work.
he literally tried to do what you said and got brutally knocked out. so much for that theory.
a good straight right to counter that kick and the opposite guy would have been KO'd instead. He tried but didn't succeed. I mean you sugested he should have thrown a cross as reaction. You only can block it or move out the way if you got time. He wasn't aware enough. Easy for us to talk now. Barnett shot a takedown into Mirkos High kick and it worked. Ocassionaly in Muay Thai they do the lean back but that is very risky. It's all reaction time and awarness. They all know what to do. But it's all dimanic and a game of guess and set up.
if you got the speed of thunder to react to that with a cross that is faster then the incoming kick. I rest my case.a good straight right to counter that kick and the opposite guy would have been KO'd instead.
