Guys like Lombard just find trouble everywhere.
LOL wtf bro. late is late.
"That late"
Your not wrong but I feel like Lombard is going to be crucified over this lol.
Just like we give fighters credit for having lightning reflexes and reaction times and are able to think quickly under pressure, you also have to give blame for those same reflexes when they make a bad decision. If you look at the sequence, it is almost as if, when he hears the horn, he tries to sneak those shots in. That is why he immediately "waves off" the situation and turns around to walk away. To blame the ref by saying you only threw until the ref stepped in is chickenshit. How many times have we seen fighters bouncing another fighter's head off the canvas even after the guy is clearly out but the ref jumps in late. Do the fighters not "know" that their opponent is out? That is a "faulty ref" situation but the bell can CLEARLY be heard by all participants most of the time.Ultimately the referee is to blame yet again. In other words the ref needs to be in place after the 10 second count down to the bell. The ref needs to be ready to insert himself in between the fighters as the horn sounds. The ref failed to do so in Lombard vs Dollaway
According to the rules...When the bell sounds, whenever that happens that’s just indication to stop the round (obviously) but according to the ABC (Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports) “That’s not the signal for the exact end of the round. That is when the referee needs to make sure he is in position and everything is in place to stop the action as close to that horn as possible.”
He started the sequence before the buzzer. Not that late. It's not like it was some cheap shot. What was cheap was the Weidman-like faking/exaggeration of damage.
And this coming from a guy who normally cheers when Lombard loses.
I love and hate Lombard fans so much, you guys act like he isn't a huge bully and cheater.
You're surprised?
The round ended when Dolloway landed his kick. Both of Lombards punches were thrown after the round ended. He has no case at all.

Yeah he's hard to like I'd agree but I have sympathy with him here and indeed generally with guys who have opponents milk strikes that land an instant after the horn. As has been mentioned the horn is not the absolute end of the round its the moment fighters should stop taking offensive action, if you stop defending the instant you hear it then frankly your making an error and its your problem is you get caught by something thrown an instant before.
Herb Dean is trashCan you provide a link to the rules you're referencing? I'm looking at the Unified Rules of MMA on the UFC's site, and the only things I see regarding that are that only the referee is allowed to stop the contest (that is, the fight, not the round - Section 13), and that it's a foul to attack the opponent after the bell (the bell, not the referee's verbal or physical indication - Section 15.A.xxv).
Besides, I may be remembering incorrectly, but I'm fairly certain the ref was yelling "Time time TIME" after the bell and before Lombard finished (or possibly even started) his combination.

Don’t make it about black. The referee was Mark Smith. Not all black people are Herb Dean.
Should be overturned. I didn't like CB faking how hurt he was with his exaggerated wobbling, asking what happened after telling the ref he thought he said stop, which shows he knew what was going on. Lombard was in the act of throwing those shots right at the bell. A nc would have been more appropriate, or a tko for Lombard.
