He's doing this for several reasons. 1 - Woodley is no longer deeply associated with AKA. 2 - Lombard has complete opposite political beliefs, despite living in Australia for some time. Lombard is very argumentative with anyone who has even the slightest liberal ideologies. 3 - He wants that Jake Paul clout, and sees an opportunity to make money.

Yep I dont even hold it against Woodley. Lombard would have been a very very bad matchup and imo he would have brutalised Woodley just like he did Shields. UFC allowed avoiding opponents so Woodley did. Just like UFC would rather have bombed the Performance Institute then give Rory a titleshot vs Woodley.
