Heavyweight Jones vs Prime Werdum

Jones wins most of the time but Werdum would definitely win some if they fought enough times.

id slightly favor werdum.. funny i said to my buddies during the stipe fight i wish jones and werdum fought

werdum's TDs weren't overpowering. i think jones keeps it standing and outstrikes him, or eyepokes him to death or a combination of both.

ROFL at Jones winning; this isn't even a question. People forget that Werdum is bigger and far more skilled at submissions than any of Jones' opponents. Werdum would tool people like Reyes and Santos; he would not fight to a controversial or split decision.

There is nothing Jones has ever done that would make me think he can beat Werdum. Werdum has some low fight IQ fights that he did badly in, but his size and skill are too much for Jon.

JDS has curred and quit, multiple times, EVERY time he faces adversity. Makes me sick to look at him.

Jon Jones RISES TO THE TOP, and SOLVES THE PROBLEM, every time "he" faces adversity.

Jon Jones wins. Period.
A prime JDS smokes JJ. Elite takedown defense, great instincts, great standup.
I don't think JJ could come close to doing what Velasquez did.

Post-Belfort motivated Jones keeps it standing pretty easily and takes the W almost all the time. Post-Belfort unmotivated Jones is a complete wild card. Pre-Belfort Jones loses an arm.

HW Jones is post-Belfort Jones and wins absent an act of god if he's motivated.

This would be a 5 round stand up fight. Jones will not finish Werdum standing or on the ground and I don't see it happening the other way around either unless Jones gets reckless on the ground and leaves a big opening in transition.

I will take Werdum by decision.

I'm surprised some people are picking Werdum. Look, I despise Jones but he would stomp Werdum's kneecaps in

I think its an interesting match up. Jones has arguably better striking, but Werdum subbed Gus easily. Could Jones keep it standing?

Gun to your head who are you picking and why. Best versions of both
Werdum by a wrapped up boomerang he bought cheap at a tourist stall.

Of course Prime Werdum. 45-year-old Werdum submitted 32-year-old Gustafsson in the very first round, without a single problem. Meanwhile, Jones 7 years ago didn't have that dominant of a first or second round against that same Gustafsson, and it was only in the third because of a perfectly timed takedown that he finished Alexander (that wasn't HW Jones, but it was 30-year-old Jones).

Let alone Prime Werdum, who finished Fedor, and who -- just barely outside of his prime -- finished Velasquez.

Crazy to think it's been 7 years, since that was Jon's comeback fight after a long layoff.

I mean Gustafsson was pretty far past his prime in that Werdum fight.

I've said ot for years Werdum is the worst match for Jones

Jones can't hurt him with punches and Werdum is good enough and big enough to negate most of Jones offense on the feet.

On the ground Werdum is much better.

Werdum did much better vs their 2 common prime opponents Vera and Gus
