Heavyweight is the most boring weight division with the exception of wmma

It wasn't like that in pride, it's a ufc thing. They've dropped the ball on the best division
Its not a UFC thing, it’s a MMA problem as a whole, most HW’s nowadays are just unskilled and too stubborn & lazy to get in shape and or actually put in the work.

If they split off MW, LHW, and HW from the rest of it those would probably be the only cards I'd watch

HW has certain guys when they go past 1.5 rounds, turns into utter shit. I'm so bored of those fights. Even guys with good cardio like Volkov/Gane, their last fight looks sort of terrible. I don't know how to really put into words what's going on, but in the golden age of HW it seemed like the guys could finish the fight the whole time, where even top guys can look lost. The talent pool is so shallow right now is the problem. Stipe and earlier seemed like guys were more well rounded and lasted longer. Probably goes back to the before and after USADA effects.

The hw division was at its peak when it paid the most. The ufc came in and killed that incentive that's why we don't see skilled hws entering mma

I think most would agree. The division is shallow with few prospects. Most of the fights drop off immensely in quality once they’re out of the first round. The only saving grace is there’s generally a feeling there could be a KO with the power.

i wish someone would to make it interesting. ilir did and i think he got shafted a couple of decisions. gus tried. we need a modern LHW to just go up and take it to these absolute nobodies. the fedor / cain gameplan. short and sweet, but with the output at HW. the speed. make it easy.
Vitor Petrino just moved up from 205 and was 250 shredded, which says he probably should have always been there.

That's the main thing with both HW and LHW. Many should-be HWs are at 205. Many should-be LHWs are at 185.

That makes no sense at all, it sounds like hater gibberish victim blaming the UFC, when literally UFC pay is the highest it’s ever been across the board for MMA. There just isn’t any fighters skilled enough to be paid currently.

whatever bro I could just as well turn it around and say that what you wrote sounded like something a tuf noob would say.

Ufc has dropped the ball with the hw division, one that is historically the most profitable. All because they are cheap lol

Huh? Saying the UFC pays the most at this time in MMA, is not the something a TUF Noob would say, because it inherently fact. You don’t need to be a TUF noob to see that.

How exactly did they drop the ball? Ngannou left because he put up stipulations that is not viable at this time, thats not being cheap thats being smart with your business. Fact is there just isn’t any skilled HW’s. You make it out to be like HW 20 something years ago fighting in PrideFC are making more than current UFC fighters, thats blatantly a lie, we see Prides payouts when they fought in stateside.

I reckon they should make HW fights 3 x 1min rounds, the reason the division is shit is because if there's no KO in the first two mins they're too gassed to do anything.

HW is perhaps at an all time low with respect to modern MMA. I was hoping for a Jon/Aspinall fight and with that gone there really isn't a highlight matchup. Hopefully we cycle back around soon.
When Alex vs Tom is done you will realize your judgement on "there is no opponent for Tom" will change. As I truly believe most of you will get a reality check when you see the reality, that is, elite LHWS nowadays with HW physique like Pereira >> Aspinall.
